Multiplayer hosting or calling impossible - bravunavo - 07-19-2006

Hi all
I'm a noob at Panzer campaigns series, trying to play Stalingrad 42. I've got the following message while trying to host a game to play with a friend : "error establishing system as host" and i I try to connetc to my friend (caller), I get "error establishing system as caller".
My system is W2K and my friend uses XP.
Have u ever heard of such a problem?

Really a shot in the dark but if you're running some firewall software/hardware you may need to open specific ports to play. Can you "ping" the other machine? (run->cmd, then type ping ipaddr).

Hi
Thx for helping :)
We already tried to disable any firewall without any change. Good idea to try to ping each other : I'll try. Thx again. Cu.

There's a couple of steps to setting up an on-line game, and its best if both players are on the same version of DirectX, which is currently at 9.0c

Then there's the issue of firewalls. Each of you will need to make sure you have the Direct Play ports open so that traffic can pass through. How you do that depends on the firewall you have...and there's so many that I couldn't even begin to walk you through that. The ports you need to have open are:

47624 to 47624
2300 to 2400
6703 to 6703

Hope this gets you going.

Regards,
Rich

Thx for helping too. I'm not sure the firewall is the cause as nothing changed when it was disabled on both PCs. A for the ports you mentionned, I'll take care anyway.
Thx again:)
