RE: Patch 2.01 - RADO - 06-11-2014

Someone mentioned to me that there are two updates to get 2.01. At this link: http://www.matrixgames.com/products/318/downloads/John.Tiller's.Campaign.Series
I only see the one, dated June 3. I have downloaded & installed but am wondering if there are any more?

There is only one UPDATE, 2.01. It does require a fresh install, however.

RE: Patch 2.01 - Outlaw Josey Wales - 06-12-2014

Fresh install meaning? Are we supposed to delete and reinstall the matrix game set? If we are at the last patch of 2.0, why can't we just add 2.01 to that and keep going instead of taking two steps back to take one step forward?

Because from 2.00 to 2.01, stuff was moved, renamed, or removed entirely. If you update 2.00 -> 2.01 (rather than the recommended 1.00 -> 2.01), you will have interim 2.00 cruft lying around -- cruft that might interfere with the game's proper operation.

In future, Matrix/Slitherine might "remaster" the installation, so that (by then) 2.10 (or whatever) will be the new base install. We didn't have time to implement that for 2.01. Later.

This 'cruft' you are speaking of. Will this also be the case when I copy and paste my EF?WF files from 2.0 into 2.01? I have tons of non-stock gamefiles in 2.0. Jason said I could do this but he did not mention about files that could cause problems wth the proper operation of the game.

Adding the additional scenarios shouldn't be an issue, although they may have to have the visibility and turn length modified as the standard has changed.

If you added stuff to previous installs, you should be able to add that same stuff to the new 2.01 install, no problem.

Not to make too big a deal about the "cruft". (For example: obsoleted, now useless, graphics files.) We're just being super cautious here. If there is the slightest chance that cruft might interfere with the proper functioning of the game, why risk keeping it?

In any event, 1.00 -> 2.01 is our strong recommendation. Then add your own customizations, as you have always done, and as you please.
