Is there a way to improve the size of the mouse location cross "+". I have a bit of an eye problem at present and it would be helpful if I could improve its size, thickness and colour.

Depend on your Windows version but in W10 Device settings for mouse, additional mouse settings, and select pointers tab and you can change them. You'd have to see what they look like in the game.
