Last night I took the plunge and purchased Moscow '42 Gold.  There looks to be some really interesting content in it (hypothetical scenario/campaign, for one), and the programmed weather really impresses me.  The detail in the Soviet OOB is incredible, as well.  I just hope that this title is a good one for a rookie to the Campaign series like me.  I already own Panzer Battles Normandy, so some elements are not too foreign to me.  Very much looking forward to the North Africa titles being upgraded to Gold, and seeing some British forces in the fray ! :) <salute>
Congrats beldurax and welcome to the PzC Series!  Big Grin

It bears repeating and can't be stressed enough... to sing the praises of the Gold versions! [Image: wink.gif]

I love the improved graphics, sounds (close assault audio is fantastic!), and the addition / consolidation of new content in each game release.

It's so much more "user friendly" to download a complete game without having to add missing audio files and hunt around for various graphic mods.

Also, offering FREE Gold version upgrades to existing game owners is virtually unheard of in today's "for profit only" business markets!  [Image: e886fe837feek.gif]

Also, once you get familiar with your game title, be sure to post a "Looking for PBeM Opponent" in these TOC Forums and get into some human versus human play!  Wink That's when the PzC Series really shines... playing against other players!

Again, welcome and enjoy!  Helmet Smile
Congrats on your purchase sir!

Playing small/medium scenarios encompassing 2 to 3 days is an excellent way of learning the game, especially against a human opponent.
Thanks for the kind support, guys ! Once I become more familiar with Moscow '42 itself, I will definitely be putting out an opponent wanted post of some kind. What I have played of Panzer Battles, and the opening scenario of Moscow '42, I have to say that I enjoy it much more than Grigsby or TOAW. They hit more of a sweet spot for me.

And here I was thinking I was the only one that played Grigsby and loved this series much more than any of those games! Congrats on your purchase! I really appreciate the fact that you created this thread because this mirrors my experience perfectly.
Overall, I like "Panzer Campaigns" better than,  "War in the East".  But I wish they got the guy that did the Map Mod for, "War in the East"  to do the Map for the Gold series.  I still think that New map went backward as far as Maps go, personally I like the old Maps better and they were not that great.

We did not have permission to use Jison’s mapmod. I personally would have loved to have included it, but it wasn’t to be.

You can still use the original JTS map graphics if you choose. Do a fresh install of the JTS build, save the map folder elsewhere, add the Gold patch and copy in the original Map Folder. That should restore you back to the previous map graphics.

Graphics are an area that we get the broadest opinions on and we will never satisfy everyone.

David, as I recall, there were some alignment issues in the new Gold version that made my mod incompatible - no point including my artwork if the pieces doesnt fit - but other than that, I would have loved to jump on.  Smile

I prefer the graphics of the Gold version much more than the old JTS graphics and wouldn't change a thing. I love what you all did with the maps!

Jison,

As usual sir, you are completely correct!

All, the JTS versions changed the hex alignments which resulted in Mapmod not working. Though there was a subsequent crude fix, it was not ideal.
