Finally upgraded from old Windows XP SP3 PC, to new Windows 10 PC.  New SSHD and old HD in same PC.

Uninstalled / deleted everything CS I could find from both HD's.

Fresh installation to primary SSHD from JTCS disc  v.1.0 .
Followed directly by installation  v 2.02 update.
C/matrixgames/JTCS/...

Menu screen opens but anything from there doesn't respond. Tried opening from WF, EF, RS .exe files directly.
Error: " application failed to start because side-by-side configuration incorrect ".

Any ideas what this means; fix?  Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Thanks
Jacques

Jacques,

Did you ever find the solution? I am having the same problem, except I havent gotten the "application failed to start because side-by-side configuration incorrect"  message but it sounds like the same issue/problem. Any help would be appreciated

John
John, What issue are you having, and you did reinstall the redistributables yes?

Hi John

For the life of me cant remember how I fixed it ! Trawled the Matrix CS forum and found this fix which looked familiar.
You have to install the Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 Redistributable Package ( correct version for your system architecture ie 32 vs 64 bit) . The detail escapes me, but I’m pretty sure this was the fix.
Hope this puts you on the right track!

Jacques
I recently came across this issue. What solved the problem for me was the " Microsoft Visual C ++ 2008 redistributable", the 32bit version. Even if your machine (like all current machines) is 64 bit, you need the 32bit version cause the game was built that way. Thanks Basson for the tip.
I need the 2008 redistributable 32 bit can't find at microsoft says no longer supported?
Try this. The x86 version should work.

Glad it worked!

Alas, that is unlikely.
