Hey guys i've looked around everywhere for a solution to this issue but I just can't seem to find anything that works.

I recently upgraded to a GTX1080 and previously CM:FB and CM:FI worked great no issues, but the lag now is so bad even on lowest settings it lags terribly. I've tried using my video card, optimizing via nvidia settings, and shit ton more but cannot figure this out and its driving me nuts. any recommendations or help would be appreciated, thanks.
It sounds like you have done the work that would be recommended. When you say optimizing nVidia settings are you talking about work like this:

There is no reason for a better video card to make things worse unless something is not configured correctly. Does your motherboard have a built in crappy video chip that might be enabled by mistake?
I tried the settings you linked to but to no avail unfortunately.

I have made sure that my 1080 is being forced on, funnily enough before I upgraded I used a 970 which worked great haha.

Im using a graphics amplifier made by alienware. basically it plugs in the external thing (graphics amplifier) to the back of my laptop, and it uses a computer grade 1080 instead of my built in 970.
That is strange. I am unfamiliar with graphics amplifiers so I have no idea what problems they might suffer from or how to fix them. If CM worked OK with the 970 then it should work fine with the 1080 as well. Plenty of people are using 1080s and getting reasonable performance. If you choose to run CM games on the 970 instead (is that even possible) does the performance return to what you experienced before?
I haven't tried, I had the same issue shortly on my 970 but some tweaks fixed it. its a pain in the ass to setup so im not really willing to turn it off just to play CM. previously with my 970 I got above 60 fps easily, but now its like 20 fps when zoomed out on lowest
Oh I may have miss-understood. Your machine does not run either the 970 or the 1080 configurable by the program the 970 is disabled since you have the amplifier added. Do I have that right now?

Like I said I don't have any experience with this form of upgrade but I happened to be picking up a new notebook and I asked the tech about this. He said two things that might be relevant here:

1) you don't get full 1080 level performance so he wondered if the step up from the mobile 970 to the 1080 would actually give you a net benefit for an OpenGL game at all.

2) the amplifier uses CPU resources to manage data transfer to the GPU. Given how CPU intensive CM is this could actually be the problem. CM gains the most performance benefit from faster CPU speeds not faster GPUs. So, it could be that the benefit you are getting from the faster GPU is being offset by the increased strain on the CPU.

Only a couple of thoughts from someone who knows less than you...
Oh interesting, im not sure how it would effect the CPU or anything and I only know basic stuff and appreciate the input. well I've seen big performance upgrades when it comes to many other game titles as a use of the 1080 but I understand its bottlenecked by my processor, which isn't too bad (i-7 overclocked top 3.60 GhZ)

also your correct about the first statement, it pretty much "replaces" the built in card and uses the external until you unplug it or disable.

In any case im not sure what can be done? if you know anything about CPU prioritizing or anything perhaps, its a dark area for me!
Sadly I am at a loss as what you might do. Perhaps BFC support can offer some thoughts.
Damn, well thanks for your help, where's their support area I can contact?
