I notice in the Scenario,  "Race to the Sea"   the Railroads have a lot of damage to them.  Were the Railroads just bad in those days or is it a game design for some reason?
I cant say for sure but I think they are damaged to restrict "gamey" rail movement , both sides rail capacity is only 6 but I believe that some reinforcements arrive by rail.

Not played this one yet !

What RR lines are you talking about? jonny Mex Big Grin
Actually, it is a mix. A lot of the rail road damage on the map was done during the "early" campaign, as the allies withdrew (why would they leave perfectly good rail network for the Germans?) and then some of it, maybe 1/2 of it, was extra to prevent gamey "rail blitzes" into Flanders, or behind the front.
So, regarding the blitzing on railroads--both times I have played this (once as reach side), the Belgian engineers road the rails south to cut more lines. Ed, do you consider this gamey?

You mean the Belgians hop on trains to travel south, to cut rail roads? If so, yeah that is very gamey. But how far south do they go? If we are talking about 10km or so south, and as they move west, then not too gamey I suppose (they Belgians were known to destroy railroads as they withdrew). If we are talking about railing into the hear of the German area to do it, then that is just ridiculous.
