Hello!

So, I just got the JTCS, played a couple of the bootcamp tutorials and I had a question about the game.

In Steel Panthers you could quickly throw down some random units (think based on points and size of the game you wanted)....does JTCS have that option?

Random battle generator looks like it picks the units for you based on date and nationalities you pick but you don't get to actually pick what units in the battle.

The scenario editor looks like you go in and edit the pre-existing scenarios? That looks a little tricky. Maybe I'm wrong.

So, is there a less sticky, complicated way to throw down some units that I choose and play on a random map?

Thank you for your time.
You can generate a battle, then open it in the various editors and pick what you want, replace things and redo the map, etc. They are in the directory under Random, with numbers after, depending on how many you have generated. I used to do the above a lot, was pretty cool to tinker with a random scenario!!
Ok, so for what I'm looking to do I alter the scenario's?

Random Battle Generator will not allow me to add/change the units, correct?

Thanks for your help

You can ignore my request over on Matrix. Same guy just trying to get more exposure to get some questioned answered :)
Is there a tutorial either a video or written documentation on how to create your own battles?

Thanks
Random generator make 3 files
map file
scenario file (scn)
Order of battle file
(oob)
All these files you can change in the editor
The editor you open separated
The scenario file is the main file
when you start play you also generate a bte file
Ahh, gotcha

So, when you make a random battle you can save that game and then go in and change things?

I'll look around on the menu to see how to add units. I think I know how to remove them.

I'll play around some more this evening.

Thank you
Then you change the order of battle file
org.file
Sorry before I call it oob.file
org.file is named
Thanks fritz

I'll give it a go tonight and play around with it.

Appreciate your help
+1, good way to learn the in's and out as well this way! I was always trying to create random Bulgarians battles back when I first made the mod, now it is in the game, pretty fun to mod the random battles!
Well, I'm not having any luck. It's user error and frustration.

I'll take a look at this again after I play some of the pre-built scenarios. Maybe digging into the game before I try and create my own stuff is what I need to do.

Thanks for the help
