Looking for a WinSPWW2 or WinSPMBT (latest version) opponent. Just getting back into gaming after a long time away. But I used to do pretty well.

Not choosey about a nationality or time frame. But I don't like totally one sided battles. The game should be fun for both players.

May need some remedial practice at PBEM. Should be able to complete two turns a week (at least).
Do you have a previous SP account, if so you should be using that one and not creating a new one. If you have forgotten your PW let me know and I can get it for you. If you remember it then all you have to do is report a game to reactivate your old account.

No previous account that I recall. Don't think I've known about this group until recently.
Ok, your first post made it sound like you had played H2H before. Sorry I can't offer right now, I am working on Sp scenarios and have put all games on hold. My opponents are mad, my record lately is about 20% win success.

Did you get a game yet?
Not sure what you mean. I've been wargaming for LONG time. To give you an idea: When I was a kid I played Tactics II with my cousin... Blitzkrieg, PanzerBlitz, Panzer Leader, all the versions of Steel Panthers up to SP-WAW Generals Edition. I still have that one installed on my computer. I played it via PBEM for several years (quite a while back). Also, The Operational Art of War, all the editions over the years. Currently playing TOAW III against the AI. Maybe if I can't find a SP opponent, I try for a PBEM TOAW III game.
H2H = head to head, or PBEM as most call it today. I think you will find most guys on the Blitz have been playing for decades, my first war game was on an Apple II+.

The SP ladder is pretty slow now unfortunately. I could play you in a couple of weeks, a game of MBT, but I only play with certain rules that some enjoy and others hate; my main being the AFV movement rule and FOO rule at the least, found here:

Weasel,
I've started a WinSPWW2 game with one of the members. I'll see what sort of a time commitment it becomes over the next few weeks.

I looked at the rules file you referenced. My immediate response is: how do you enforce them? Of course there's the honor system but... Seems like one would have to spend a lot of time reviewing an opponent's move to ferret out some of those rule violations. In the case of the AFV movement rule in a forested area of the map, I could picture the AI move logic violating the rule even though a play didn't intend to violate the rule. A thoughtless more order could result in the AFV moving thru a (AFV movement rule) restricted hex on the way from point A to point B and the player might not even notice.

I understand the quest for realism. But the game creators didn't add code to implement that AFV movement restriction. I wonder why not.
Howdy; The rules are easy, they seem overwhelming but after playing once you realize they are easy. And yes it is the honour system and of course players will make mistakes; I just made one in my last game where I popped smoke from an infantry unit and then realized I shouldn't have. I told Walrus in the email what I had done and told him to do the same with one of his units if he wished; if you can't trust your opponent then it is probably best not to play him at all. I trust Walrus 100% and I rarely watch replays which is why my win percentage is so low, but I get bored.

And you can't expect the AI to use them, but I use them when I play the AI.
Too add to what Weasel is saying...they are also not mandatory at all, just a suggested rule set to save having to go over every possible thing with your opponent before play.
You could play with zero rules if you both wish...The Blitz only cares that your final reported game is an agreed result between the two players. How you get to that result is between the players.

In saying that, over the years I personally have found that certain game mechanics allow for 'gamey' play and I therefore tend to try and avoid those situations as they ruin the game for me. So, over many years of playing Weasel, we have been quietly trying and testing different things to make for a better gaming experience...at least in our collective opinion.
We've collated them and posted them so others have the use of them if they wish.

Use some of them, all of them or none of them...make your own set up...see what other like and don't like etc.
Debate them on the forum here, or with your opponent. It's all good and all in the interest of having more fun with this very old gaming system.

Happy Battles!
