It's not Windows 10. Maybe try uploading and installing all the latest drivers, starting with your video card. You have to use drivers compatible with Win10, so don't use any old ones from your old rigs, go online and get the latest.

As for email, your email server is hosted at an ISP and you're using Windows 10 Outlook (windows mail or whatever it is)? If so, you need their incoming and outgoing email server names and what ports. Usually port 110 for POP3 (incoming) and port 25 for smpt (outgoing), but outgoing can vary, check with them.

Hope that helps,

Dave

And now for the bad news. I am a huge Rome Total War (of the 2004 fame, not Rome II)  fan especially TWRome together with the Roma Surrectum mod.

As of Windows 10 the disc based games do not work anymore. The Digital Rights Management system those CDs were locked with is apparently considered a security threat, so it's not going to change either as far as I am aware.

The only way to continue to play them is to purchase them again from Steam. I did just that for my Rome games, bought the base game and Alexander variant to go with it.

I have not yet gotten back to Medieval, but I suspect it is the  same story.

It is what it is. I guess that's the price of progress or whatever. There are package deals, and at times they are on sale, so just buy them again at your convenience to continue enjoying them for the next 15 years I guess.

Also Try installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package for 32 bit or 64 bit, depending on your operating system (probably 64).

Make sure you've done all the Windows updates too.

Total War Rome and Total War Medieval / Kingdoms issue is a DRM issue that method no longer supported by Microsoft. See for instance here:

https://forums.totalwar.com/discussion/1...windows-10

The post suggests it would be possible to use the DRM code key to activate the product in Steam without repurchasing it... I will try that with my Medieval II / Kingdoms discs this weekend. That would be neat to have them available again without paying for them again.
