So I am relatively new to the Panzer Campaigns series.  I have played a few games from Tobruk '41.  I am currently reading about Operation Barbarossa and am interested in trying out a Panzer Campaigns game from the Eastern Front.  I have purchased the Ipad version of Smolensk '41.  Is the full game worth purchasing and playing PBEM?  The cheapest I can find it is for $24.99 + shipping.   I notice is from 1999.  I believe it is the first game in the series.  Thoughts anyone?
IMO it's a great game and worth every penny.
Excellent title....... Wink

One of my all time favorites... Helmet Smile
And even though it launched the Panzer Campaigns series, it has been patched since then to match the later games. Also, and I think most importantly, there is an add on set of scenarios, including a campaign that is more historical (using material not necessarily available for the original game) that add a lot of play to the game.

I would also recommend Smolensk, it is very interesting. Please be sure, though, to use one of the graphics mods for terrain and unit counters--they are a 1000% percent improvement over the original graphics. Note that some the PzC titles have been upgraded to new stock graphics which are as good as (indeed based on) one of the better mods, although I don't recall if Smolensk has been upgraded in this way.
