Full Version: Matchmaking service?

Tried searching the forum, but came up empty.

When I use the matchmaking service I get back inactive players (2-3 years) or if I select beginner or above, I get members who have not played a game on the particular ladder. Is that correct?

I know I can get a game on the forums, I was just trying it out. It seems straight forward, or is it out of service, or am I lost in the sauce.

Thanks in advance.
Hi Gris,

Until Raz has a chance to respond (he gets pretty busy), I believe the answer to both questions is yes, that's correct. The system doesn't exclude inactives or nonladder members. I looked over some of the discussions the site officers had when Raz first proposed the idea and that seems to be the case, but bear in mind it is a work in progress. Personally I'd include inactives (the game challenge might bring them back), but the nonladder members I'd exclude.

The last site upgrade he did has an "improvement to the matchmaking system to make it more intuitive" logged, but doesn't go into specifics.

Hope that helps a little.

If you select 'Bootcampers' the pool from which the players are picked only consists of people who haven't yet reported any games.

If you select 'Begginers' or above, both active and inactive players (where inactive means the player hasn't reported any games for more than 1 year) are eligible.

Thank you both for the reply. It makes sense to include the inactive for the reason stated. Everything is working as intended then.
