People get ladder points for answering questions in the two Quiz threads.
Weasel is the quiz moderator and I told him I don't like it because nobody should get precious ladder points just for answering questions, as it's not fair on real ladder players, and devalues the ladders.
He replied that he and some other Blitz moderators don't agree with me, and that he'll continue giving ladder points for answering quiz questions.
Maybe somebody should start a poll to find out what members want?..;)
Thanks spike for bringing this topic up to us and letting us know how you feel about it.

We have had past conversations about how to deal with the quizzes and rewards points

We are now in the very beginning stages of reevaluating it again.

If you have any suggestions or any more comments on how we can make things better, please feel free to post them in the forum board or via email.

Thanks Again.

If you mean post on this CMx2: Modern board, okay, Raz just told me he likes the awarding of ladder points because it rewards people for contributing to the two Quiz threads.
But I don't agree, because getting a question right is reward enough in itself..:)
I've got 3 questions correct over the past few weeks and have been awarded a total of 15 ladder points for them. At that rate I'll probably be topping the ladder by the end of the year without ever playing a ladder game!
That's not good because it's not fair on the real ladder players who have to fight hard for precious ladder points, and I feel guilty, see my point?
Personally, I feel like it's an extra bit of fun added to the site.  Why not give players a little incentive to participate more.  It awards an appropriate amount of points IMO.  Enough to encourage participation and not enough to change the scores too much.  I like it.
At the moment I'm 4th in the Overall CM:Black Sea ladder on 602 points, and Raz is 3rd on 643 pts.
So if I get 2 quiz questions right each week (at 5 pts each), I'll overtake him in about 5 weeks without me having to play any ladder games!
Likewise, genuine ladder players below me on the ladder will find it harder to catch me as I continue to rack up points for answering quiz questions.

I haven't played a ladder game for months, and don't expect to play any for a while longer because I'm currently involved in Armed Assault 2 and flight sims.
So technically at the moment I'm not a ladder player, and it seems unfair on genuine ladder players that me and any other non-ladder players are able to score ladder points by getting quiz questions right, and it makes a bit of a laughing stock of the Blitz ladder system.
I've played on 7 different ladders at different clubs over the past 14 years, and none of them awarded ladder points except for playing ladder games..:)

It's absolutely none of my business of course, as it's something for the Blitz Admin and ladder players to decide, so I suppose if they don't mind, then I don't mind..:)
Perhaps Admin could put up a poll asking all Blitz members "Should ladder points be awarded for getting quiz questions right, yes or no?"
But if you Switch to looking at the ladder via ELO scores you are 10th and Raz is 5th and no amount of quiz answering will help you :)

Sorry I couldn't resist - I have never looked at the ladder score only the ELO ranking. To me that is the ladder, but that is just me.

I like the 'Points' column best, or as I like to call it- "the enemy body count column"..:)
Ah, no the ELO is the enemy body count column - the better you do the higher the score - there is a more direct correlation between doing better and making sure the enemy soldiers are ding and not yours.

The points column is just the body count column - the more you play and the more your guys die the more points you get. Doing better in the points column does not necessarily mean you are helping your guys stay alive and helping them kill the enemy soldiers at all.

In fact the points column is really just a nice participation score anyway so why not have answering quizzes count - it is participating. Seems OK to me.
Interesting question.
I am only playing the CMx2-Old Ladder, but the question applies as well.

Personally I think the point-system should be reviewed or the ladder listed after ELO by default.

Reasons:
First of all I am puzzled by the fact that you earn ladder pionts for doing club activity. The one thing has no connection to the other. I understand the incentive created to partake in club activity, but I think it could be achieved in other ways, too.

Secondly the point system as-is rewards the 'super-high game-rate'-player very much. Take our ladder: in points I am totally unable to compete with our high-scorers even though I consider myself a very strong player - simply because my RL doesn't allow for this. I played 16 games in 2 years, they do 10+ it in 4 months!
Ladder points are for games only

For quizs and the like
if you want to award quiz badges or something like that that's cool but points should not be allocated for ladder games -
its stuffs up ELO etc
I'm quite surprised at this and id like it stopped

Das Morbo
I appreciate your comments
Playing lots of games does not give you a higher ELO and you have more chance of a loss
so striving for points is not always productive to your stats
ELO is what I go by irrespective

Points is just showing another stat from over all win bonus and games played
Its a reward to me for people who play lots of games - for the dedicated players
I have no issues with it
Points should be retained as if ELOs were identical then the points would determine the winner at the end of the year

Focus on the ELO
Don't worry about the guys with all the games played and there scores
In saying that ask the top players for games and take them down a peg or two :)
