I'm trying to create a new scenario for Salerno'43 which involves units not included in the game - for example Panther turret emplacements, and ex Italian armour units. Is it possible to create these new units or even transfer them from other PzC titles such as Sicily (and if so how)? Or am I limited to adjusting the characteristics of existing unit types? Cheers
I posted to you over where you first posted in Campaign Series, email me if you want to check out what I did. It has been many years since I played around with PzC, so am rusty!!

Thanks Warhorse email on the way
Hi Odin,

Weird, never got an email from you!? Am uploading the file to Dropbox, and will email you a link, hopefully that works!

EDIT: no email link for you on the forum, so will post the link here. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5865...-Earth.zip

Unzip into your HPS directory, it will make a folder called Invasion-Earth, use the NGPlains exe to play it, check things out using the mcedit, etc.

Thanks warhorse your help is much appreciated
No problem, hope it is helpful!
Odin,

No sure if what Warhorse has shared gave a complete answer so I thought I would give some details, in particular for anyone else interested also - thanks Warhorse!

To add a new unit type:

1. Open the OOB editor.
2. Select and right click on the formation (not unit) that you want to add that new unit to, and choose Add - or use the menu choice of Add Data when the formation is selected.
3. Create your unit with the ratings that you want it to have, including checking the Is Unit box (you could also copy an existing unit and paste into the OOB and make changes to that if you want to keep most values the same).
4. Be sure to give a type the name you want this unit type (not the unit name itself) into the component box.
5. Choose Okay to add your new unit, which can be copy and pasted to create additional new units that are that unit type/component that you just created.
6. To be able to manually add new units using your component, you would choose Save from the Unit dialog when you either add your first new unit of that type, above, or by editing an existing copy. This will then allow that new unit type to be selected as the component if you add a new unit in the future.

And you need to create an image for your unit component type, placed in the nationality folder with the other unit images. The image name would be the component name that you came up with.

Hope this helps
Rick
Hi Rick, thanks for that! As I had mentioned, it has been so long since I messed with it, thought that a visual would help! Have to make entries in the Unit.dat as well. I added Bulgarian units in Budapest as well, as an experiment.
Thanks Ricky B, I'm now making units!
Warhorse, from what I recall, the Save I mention will create the entry in the unit.dat file. It isn't required unless you want to create units on the fly, as commonly is done, so it makes sense to get it in there. You have done some interesting mods!
