Hi all.
I have the old cd version of France '40 which is version 1.06 and i got a friend thats just bought the digital version of France '40 and it seems that his version is 2.0. Is there a patch to bring my old version up to 2.0 because i cant seem to find one on the HPS site, if not can we still play each other or do i need to buy the newer version?

Is he sure about his version being 2.0? I think he might be mistaken............
I see that F40 was last updated in 2011, S41 is the most updated title at 1.16 and no title has yet reached 2.0 which is why I think he is mistaken?
Pretty much all PzC games from JTS are of version 2.0 nowadays. The fact that there is two different versions of the same games out there, and with no way to make them equal via patches, makes it very difficult to maintain a mod for the series. It has been like this for well over a year now, but only gets noticed by new buyers for obvious reasons.
I have no idea if the two versions can play each other, but would like to know that too...

Thanks for the reply guys, that's a shame because he bought France '40 to play me and now we can't play each other....feel like i've made him waste his money! :(
Does this also mean that the Map Mods and Volcano Man art packs don't work on the JTS versions of the games either?
So are old time players like me rebuying the newer titles or just moving on to other games now there is this problem?

Once both versions - HPS and JTS - are upgraded to the same level, I THINK you can play against each other. The actual scenario and save game files are identical as far as I know, so that wouldn't be a problem - the only issue I am aware of would be when the different versions have been updated with different features, so once they are the same all should be good. I would suggest giving it a try, since he has already has the game, doesn't hurt anything to try.
Thanks for the reply, yes we are going to try it.....im UK based and he's in Australia so will have to wait and see. Just annoying that its like this.
