Full Version: Any Influence Over Divisional Markings Color?

So - I finally took the plunge and bought my first full Panzer Campaigns game (Budapest 45) on the PC (previously only had iPAD Apps)


It's as good as I'd imagined it to be ... with one small (relatively speaking) flaw : Some of the Divisional Markings are downright ugly when combined with the base counter color.

I know ... it may seem a bit Metro .... but I am very much into the "atmosphere" of the game.

Seeing all the stark winter landscapes and rubble setting a proper mood - to be somewhat undone by the terrifying Fuchsia Guards Tank Brigade is a bit disappointing.

I will agree that in the greater scheme of things - this does not compare against other requests such as mechanics for realistic bunker busting etc - but it is something that would be a "nice to have".

Perhaps it already is out there?

I searched here for "Divisonal Markings", in the Editor PDF and on the Glenn Saunders page and could not find a way to specify the colors that get applied to each division.

Any help would be appreciated ....
Congratulations on "getting off the fence" and getting your 1st pzC title. Wink

It is my understanding the divisional markings are hard coded and they are not able to be art modded.
Welcome to the world of PzC, although I cannot be 100% sure it cannot be done, in all the years I have been reading this forum I have never heard of anyone changing the divisional colours feature.
Hidden somewhere deep inside my confused mind I have a fuzzy memory that states that the divisional color are decided by a headquarters name. Meaning that if you would to change the name in the OOB ever so slightly, by adding an empty space for example, its divisional color would also change. I could remember wrong though, so dont take my word for it.

Thanks for the welcomes and the input guys.

With the PC version in hand, I believe my addiction is now complete. Wink

I'll explore Jison's potential lead (thanks for that too) .... but for now, I must go build some pontoon boats and hunt down some overly independent Hungarians ....

I think Jison might be right, in the sense that when I was working with some OOB files it did change the colours - of course the problem is that you don't actually even then have any control over what colour comes up (and if you know about hexidecimal codes for colours and how to use them it makes it a bit frustrating ... but it is the way that it goes.).
Yes actually division color is determined by the text name of the division organization (not the HQ unit). If you want to change the color of a division, just put a "." on the end of the name, or a space, or abbreviate something in the name etc - it just has to be different than the current name. :)

Unfortunately you cannot pick a color though, it is just generated based on the text data, I guess i created some kind of numeric value for RGB color, or some such.

All Pink Traitors to the Revolution have been purged and replaced with shades of Blue.

One thing to note is that some units don't have a true Divisional Org but jump from Brigade -> Corps etc - so just edit at that level (where there is an inventory of men, guns etc after the Org entry)

I wonder, as a small change (that would not require a major code re-write), could the color code specification be set by a new Org parameter field where the value would be drawn from a set representing various choices from the standard Windows color palette?

i.e. - 37 = Dark Blue

Again - this is a "nice to have" ... but setting a Guards Tank formation to a angry shade of Red as seen on the German unit North of the river would be a cool improvement.
