Full Version: Expanding & Adjusting Size Modifiers

Hi
Is there any chance that the Size Modifiers may be expanded/adjusted a bit?
My observations so far:

Black Powder SM
Here I see that from 1-70 turns there is a fast raising in the SM while it gets slower above 70 and has nothing above 220 turns. Now I think it should be the opposite or at least neutral because usually the longer a scenario is the bigger it is.
For example playing 10x a 20 turn scenario and gaining a major victory in each will yield more than double the points I can get when doing a single 200 turn scenario, also that 200 turn scenario still take much more time despite the overall same amount of turns played compared to the 10x 20 turn scenarios.
I would rather try to make an approach like with the TOAW SM were a "complexity" is calculated based on turns and scenario size in KB.

TOAW SM
Seems good but again couldn't we expand beyond a max SM of 10 to also cover real big & long scenarios?

Steel Panthers SM
Not sure about this one as there are only 2 SMs, I wonder if that is appropriate for the various types of engagements.

Tiller Operational Campaigns SM
Here we see already that SM is related to a combination of turns & scenario size but both should be expanded to cover real big scenarios, in the past it has been enough but the more modern titles of John Tiller sometimes have such big scenarios in them that the SM for them is awfully small.
For example the France '14 has the scenario #Grand_Campaign_F14-A.scn that is 698KB in size so miles above the open 90KB limit.

I'm not on the other ladders so maybe others can post something in regard to the SM for there games too.

I can't comment on the specifics of the other ladders mentioned. However, I was a part of the group that determined the current Tiller Ops SM chart. At that time, this group felt it was a good compromise among all the factors that impact the effort, without trying to reward a 1 to 1 effort to points as there are too many variables to handle that accurately. True, there are bigger and longer scenarios than what the chart allows for, but in our experience (at that time), we knew that most larger/longer scenarios did not get played to the end.

Thus, the current limit in points. We also give a bonus for completing the biggest campaign scenarios in Tiller Ops, to help make up for the effort on these big ones, when played to the last turn.

My recommendation would be to post this, and the others if desired, on the appropriate ladder forums, for specific discussion and input from the players. Personally, I am still happy with the SMs for Tiller Ops, even though I am one of those that in the past played lots of campaigns and fewer small battles, and so would have benefited from higher campaign points. I know that I rarely had a campaign play to the last turn, maybe 2 out of 20?

Thanks for the suggestion!
