Just an important public service announcement.

I don't recommend downloading and installing the latest CS Featured Scenario "A Blunt Battle Axe" in the latest CS 2.1.

It crashed my organization editor in WF.

Seems there is a problem with the platoon02.oob and obx files (Italians).

With luck I was able to restore those files from my 1.04 CS game and my org editor runs fine now.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Thanks for the headsup. unfortunately me and another member have already downloaded and are playing it as I write this. Does it we have not experienced any crashes or game play issues up to this point. Were on turn 4.
I took a look at the scenario files, and the scenario download seems to indeed include customised Italian OOB and OBX files. Based on that, I recommend installing the scenario as a Mod, with JSGME.

1. Create a new folder under MODS: "A Blunt Battleaxe WF Scenario"
2. Create a subfolder under the folder created in step 1, name it "West Front"
3. Put the extracted scenario files there.
4. Fire up JSGME, you will notice a new Mod called "A Blunt Battleaxe WF Scenario".
5. Enable it for the duration of scenario play, then disable it

That way the modified Italian Platoon files won't mess up anything, always a good idea when replacing stock files.

I am not sure if the crash is related or not, I still recommend these steps. Hope this helps.
Thanks BK and zap.

Since it is just one scenario I just scrapped it and sent it to the recycle bin. Like I say I was able to recover the obb and obx file in question. The organization editor in WF CS2.1 works fine now!

I haven't tried it on my 1.04 install and probably won't. Moving on at this point.

Best always!
John
That's too bad. It's a really good scenario, especially when played blind. Unfortunately I haven't seen the designer, Rod Coles, around here in ages, so doubt it'll get fixed.

In the meantime, anyone want to suggest a stellar scenario to feature on the homepage? Smile

Dave
I know Rod, I'll ask him about it!

I haven't been here for a long time, being busy with other stuff.
I'm the last person to ask about computer stuff. I would think Battle Kat's advice is the one to follow.
I will have a look at the sceneario during the weekend. There was a reason for updated Italian Platoon OOBs at the time, right?

If that need has been addressed by MCS 2.0x, then those Platoon02.oob/obx files are redundant and can be removed.

There's a plenty of reasons why a software programme might crash unexpectedly. Maybe it was the Italian OOBs. Maybe it just happened at the same time.

More to follow over the weekend Salute

There was a reason, Konflict Moggie, but alas I cannot recall what it was.
