There was a short debate about the range and HA/SA values of some weapons shown in the teaser thread before release, but with the patch in the works it might be a good idea to restart that debate to see if any weapon values might need to be changed.

Infantry guns:

The Soviet 76mm infantry gun, which presumably models both the M1943 variant with production starting in 1943 and the older one, has a range of 30 hexes or 7.5 kilometres. It's also significantly more powerful than its German counterpart.

However, maximum range is documented as being a bit over 4 kilometres (17 hexes) with the German gun at about 3.5 kilometres and 14 hex range (so that's correct in-game). The Soviet infantry guns had limited elevation, but as they're direct fire weapons in the game that's not important. Shell weight was nearly identical, with the Soviets using slightly heavier shells.

The sIG 33's range is a rounded down estimate of the maximum range, and fine as such.

It might be worth looking into the Soviet 76mm infantry gun, as well as checking how the current values were established.

Thanks CP. I'll look to adjust.

As a short update for all the patch is progressing slowly.

We are trying to address a number of areas;

Armour/hard attack modelling. We have a first fix, that allows different parameter file settings for hard & soft values but we're not certain this achieves what we want. We're about to look at a few other options

Validate and correct where necessary the issues highlighted in ComradeP's earlier post

Tweaking all scenarios with a particular focus on the multiplayer versions.

Unfortunately, I am back working full time and am travelling (a lot!) and that is putting a real crimp on the time I am currently dedicating to the update.

More to follow,

David
The responsiveness of the development team, and the time you guys put into improving the game further on top of your day jobs is certainly appreciated David.
