Hey everyone,

I have just recently discovered John Tiller games. On the App store. However, as I prefer to play the larger campaigns and not just parts of a battle I quickly got me one of the PC games.
I don't even know how they could stay hidden from me so long, I have played wargames since years!

I have started with Smolensk 41, currently at the end of a German campaign. It's great fun!
I am mostly just playing a battle of attrition and not actually encircling all that many units. At least the kill ratio is heavily in my favor. Just a beginner throwing his superior units into the meatgrinder I guessBig Grin

Anyway, I am already wondering what I should get next though, obviously... EVENTUALLY, I plan to play through them all more or less. I'm of course not talking about the near future here...

So, without having any real preferences as to the next title, which one would you recommend next for a beginner? Panzer Campaigns, MW Campaigns or the FWW Campaign game, I don't care. I would however prefer something different in theatre to Smolensk.

Thanks!

By the way, I do have one more question... is there any way to shorten the time for each attack resolving? It's a little bit annoying having to wait 2 seconds for each attack, listening to the same attack sounds over and over again.
It also means I have the AI turn set to fast resolution, because otherwise it just takes ages, so I don't really see what happens (a 2X setting like on the iOS versions would be awesome, but doesn't seem to exist).
Welcome,

That is a really difficult question to answer as if you enjoy S41 then there is no reason you will not enjoy any of the other 20+ titles to choose from, the best rule of thumb is to pick a title that covers a campaign that you have an interest in. Smile

You can turn the firing sounds off which will reduce the time immensely. It is under Settings - Sound Effects.

Ha, I expected that answer! So theres no entries in the three series that you would personally consider worse than the others?

Doesnt seem any faster to me, but maybe thats just my perception! Shame you cant set the delay.
Keys F5 through F8 will speed up/speed down the rate at which your opponent's turn is resolved. F5 will pause the turn completely, while F8 sets it to 'lightning fast.'
I would say "worse" in my eyes are only the games that cover a complete what-if setup like Sealion 40 or Moscow 42, sure they are nice what-if games but could have been covered with other releases, France 40 could have been a place for the Sealion scenario and Moscow 41 for Moscow 42.
Otherwise yes I guess it would be the best to go for a campaign that you find interesting.
Or if you prefer any side take either a late or early war campaign, what ever is favorable for the side you want to play with, I think that allows am easier entry into the series.
I've only played a couple of the PzC games, but found Smolensk to be the most fun, as it is so fluid.

I found Minsk 44 to be pretty tedious--too much battering through fortifications and then attacking along a few roads across numerous rivers. Lots of traffic jams!

Moscow 42 was pretty fun, although so far I've only played the winter (historical) scenarios. The summer (fictional) scenarios also look fun.
Wellcome to the addiction Whistle

I have a trio of recomendations for new guys.

Tunis43: for me the best desert title in the serie (i like Tobruk and dont find bad at all Middle east from MC) a good selection of scenarios and fluid battles

Budapest45: like Tunis43 interesting scenarios and covering a rare battle for a WWII title, maybe here my only complain is the size of infantry units... they are a little small and i dont like how win fatigue btl made of 200 soldiers but apart this is a good title.

Salerno43: 3 battles in one, maybe for me he main interest is in Krete battle a pure infantry combat and the best airborne scen in PzC series, Salerno and Anzio are not bad scens to.

Are a lot of good options, some years ago i recomend Stalingrad to... maybe the only title i dont recomend is Sealion, to be the only what if in PzC i see it a little... poor, not a good selection in medium scenarios and lack of what ifs... for example an italian expeditionary force made of 2-3 infantry divisions and 1 motorized/mech/armored division, Volunteers units in British army, i think in other wargames where appear USA units and reinforcement brigades equiped with USA weapons and maybe some polish, french units.
