Hello there fellow wargamers!

Iam a long time fan of Pzc games and have been playing them for years.
Mostly against the AI but had some PBEM fights against a few buddies of mine too.

A friend recommended me this forum as a great place to find opponents.

Therefore: Iam looking for someone to play a:
-small
-(more or less) balanced
-alt (I love volcano man's art and modifications)

scenario to get me started here. Propeller Hat

I own the following games:
-France '40
-Smolensk '41
-Kharkov '42
-Stalingrad '42
-Rzhev '42
-Kursk '43
-Market Garden '44
-Bulge '44
-Budapest '45

Please suggest me a scenario from the above mentioned titles which you think would suit the description.

(saving allowed, standard alt rules)

I'll play either side.

thank you

Possible opponent found.

If for some reason we cannot set up a game, I'll reopen this thread.
Welcome to the Blitz,

If you look at the TOC Mod Scenario List sub forum above this forum you will see there are Mod scenarios that have been H2H tested for PBEM balance, many of these are VM scenarios, all are small and so any will fit your criteria.

If yourself and an opponent are trying to set up a VM scenario and are having difficulties, you may find it is because either one of you don't have the latest VM update for the title you are trying to play? Wink

thanks

may I have a quick question regarding the "houserules" on the blitz forums?

Unfortunately I couldnt come to terms with my first opponent because apparently looking at the enemy's reinforcement arrivals and release times to get a general idea is not an accepted method.

Whats the general approach regarding this?

As I wrote to him, whats the difference between me looking at the respective tabs before the game, so that i dont jump in on a scenario completely blind and having the same exact information by playing the title against the AI or pbem.

There are quite a few titles which I played extensivel and a few I didnt. For example what would my enemy do if we played the Kursk grand campaign? I have just finished a pbem game with my mate and for example I know precisely when the 6th guards army is released etc.

So in short, Iam asking for directions.
thank you Helmet Wink

Iam still looking for opponents.

Feel free to contact me.

This is a player negotiated situation. As you say, you will have knowledge through prior play in many cases - on the other hand some players want to play a scenario totally blind. Nothing wrong either way, including having the contest be cancelled due to one having knowledge and the other wanting to play blind. As long as both players are honest about their knowledge and desires, then it is all part of the negotiation for a game.

I'd guess most opponents wouldn't mind you having a rough idea where his units are at the start, as long as he can move them.

(ab)using knowledge of which units are Fixed or precise knowledge of reinforcement and withdrawal schedules is far more damaging to balance than knowing player A has about 2 divisions in an area (something you can usually notice on the first day anyway).
Thank you for your insights.

I was playing with an open hand from the very beginning as I explicitly pointed out that due to the title in question not being one of the more often played games for me, I would liked to have a general idea of the reinforcement arrivals on both sides.

We might still be able to come to an agreement as I havent even checked my forces.
