It is so quite here on the forum latly... Maybe this is a good time to talk a little bit about halftracks? Smoke6

My infantry platoon was assaulted by two Halftrack platoons in one of my games. Should I say anything to my opponent? (We did not discuss any ROE before we start the game.)

What is your opinion?

I think that if rules have not been agreed one cannot force them half way through the game. However I think it is reasonable for you to ask your opponent or highlight your concerns. Reassonable player will surely consider your request.
Btw, ht in your photo seems loaded so it can be used for the assault Big Grin
From my ROE's:

* Combat halftracks can be used to surround and assault. Against enemy tanks only when assaulting with other infantry or tank combat units.

* Combat halftracks can "scout" when they are with (in the area of) their own carried units or in the company of scout cars.

* Against enemy soft targets, Ht's can overrun/assault any enemy soft unit, including artillery, HQ's, and AT guns.

Since I see infantry as soft targets I have no problems with a couple platoons of Ht's assaulting disrupted infantry. I do usually combine them with other attacking infantry and/or armor units.
I would prefer my opponent to ask me, in advance of play, to not use Ht's in lone assaults.

cheers

In the game they were unloaded though. BTW, I always wanted t ask if assault points are added to loaded HTs (HTs + Infantry)? I've never used it. And what about shooting, the firepower works the same?

Ed, if you have it in your ROEs against soft targets that way, I guess it's ok. I will not even mention it to my opponent Smile

Thank you!
cheers

I think only half of the loaded infantry assault factor is added. ...
Depends how loaded Buds they are ??

If heavily then they only affect the morale of the defender but do not add to the assault factor Big Grin

The point is that each player has a set of ROE's that they play by. Asking a new opponent what theirs are is not a bad idea.

I posted mine up only to show that different players use different ROE's. Sometimes that can lead to confusion, calls of "cheating", or simply bad feelings of one toward another.
Getting all out in the open before the start of play can prevent a lot of problems and ill feelings later.

Agree with what you say in your post,
Quote:The point is that each player has a set of ROE's that they are happy to play by

My rules are for me what I am happy doing, not to impose on others. Unless I'm asked I never normally bring them up. If I feel someone is intentionally gaming the system then I would think twice before playing them again, If I think they are playing outside my rules but not gaming the system then I will find a way to try take on board what they are doing to turn it to my advantage.
