Hello All:

If I understand it right, supply affects fuel and ammo levels. To have the best chance of being supplied it seems that the HQs in the command hierarchy need to be within the command radius of their superior.

I know how Alt-O highlights an organization. Is there any command that will help me do the following:

- select a HQ and the command takes me to his immediate subordinate's hex so I can see if the HQ is in the command radius of the superior.

Thanks in advance,

Gerry
Gerry, there isn't a way to go from a parent to a child HQ, that I can think of - and it would be hard to program unless it stepped through each one in turn. However, I do believe you can jump from a subordinate to its parent, but I can't find the hotkey for doing this. Maybe someone can jump in with the answer.

Here is what the User Manual says when you click on "Highlight" under the "View" menu:

"Select Organization to highlight all units of the same organization as the top selected unit in the Hot Spot. For example, selecting an infantry unit in a Regiment and then choosing this Highlight option will cause all units in the same Regiment to be highlighted. Selecting a headquarters and then this option will cause all units under the command of the selected headquarters to be highlighted. Holding the Alt key while making this selection causes the next higher organization to be highlighted."
Wow - I never knew that...!

Just tried it.

The trick is select the unit, hit the highlight org, then press alt and continue to click on the highlight org. Each time you click it will highlight all the units under the higher command....

Yes, but this doesn't really help find the next highest HQ, because ALL of the units in the next higher organization are highlighted. To find particular HQs on occasion I need to resort to the "Find Unit" dialog, which can also be a little tricky because it is case sensitive, etc.
Maybe try to make a habit of when moving, making sure the HQ unit is on top of the stack or when done moving, putting it in an area not overly crowded so it can be easily spotted when looking around.
Yes, this is the problem with the Alt-O combination. I was hoping there was a way to go to the hex of the superior HQ w/o using Find Unit as this linkage between HQs is something I would like to check often.

I guess you know how to show a HQ's command radius on the map? There is a hotkey, I think k. You still have to know where all the HQs are, but at least you don't have to count hexes to see if they are out of command range.
I find that in large campaigns you will quickly figure out where all the higher HQ's are. It is only in the beginning that finding them is a problem...and a history book usually helps.

This is what I do. It helps a lot.

It was good to read about the alt-O option, I never picked up on that before.

Yes, it would be nice to have a ctrl-O option, I suppose, that shows the next higher HQ level, but I've managed to get by without it all these years...
