Hello All:

I am using Windows 7 and it doesn't seem possible to access the help files. I am most interested in the Getting Started file. Is it available in some other format.

Thanks,

Gerry

I'm not at home so can't check, but I'm 99% sure that all of these files are available as pdf files in the game directory, so you should just be able to go there and open it up.

[EDIT] Also, for what it is worth, I also use Win7 and have no problems opening the help files in-game.
Make sure you patch the game to the latest and get the optional help files with the exe. Win 7 and beyond doesn't come with the Microsoft program needed for the old help files, so they were all converted to PDFs at that point. Otherwise they won't open as you are seeing.

Enjoy

You can get help file reader for Windows 7 from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...aspx?id=91
Thanks for the help. The only files I can see that got updated to a pdf was the User.doc and User.hlp file. The Getting Started one didn't for sure.

I will check that utility Buccaneer mentioned above.

The Mius '43 game is available for free and it has a Getting Started *pdf. It won't have the same scenario as the Smolensk Getting Started, but it will teach you the same things.

Here's the link: http://www.johntillersoftware.com/downlo...43_101.msi

Hope that helps a little.
You can find Smolensk ’41 Getting Started file (and some other as well) in PDF format in Panzer Campaigns download section at GameSquad forum. You will have to register to forum for access to files.
