Hey JTCS blitzers,

Been kind of quiet here. What is everyone working on in CS?

As for me I'm working on a couple of new designes and playing 5 games against opponents. Three in WF including the WiF tourney, one in the CW Europe modification and finally one in Korea.

I'm waiting on your turn IvB. Wink
Overworked and sick. Dampened my play time. Violin Still haven't won the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, either. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a waste of time. Rolling Eyes

I am playing on every front and in every mod. Got a bunch of H2H tests running and a tournament game...

Coding Modern Wars, then after that, the CS 1.05 update. Pitching in with graphics enhancements also, when I can find the time.

As the "new programmer," I'm easing into this. Well, maybe not "easing": bulling my way forward, actually. I received the source code just earlier this week. Tons of stuff to learn (~100,000 lines of code over several hundred files), tons of stuff to do, tons of challenges, tons of gotchas too no doubt.

Modernizing legacy code (JT's code, dating back to the late 1990s, when JTCS first came out); ensuring compatibility across so many versions of Windows over the years, and so many evolutions of C++; not to mention: fixing bugs old and new, adding new features (in most cases optional! no breaking of older legacy scenarios!), spiffing up the UI ... You have no idea!

When I have tangible accomplishments, I plan to open an ongoing Dev Diary thread at the Matrix Forum. But it's much too soon for that.

Remember: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day.

Wish me luck.

Everybody's favorite platoon sized game got a new lease of life! Woo-hoo! If this isn't great news I don't know what is!

Welcome !!! Wine

You've got all the time in the world, my friend. We've waited this long, a few months won't make a difference.

I feel for you, I was a programmer for most of '90s, C++ and Java, and the engine is terribly out dated. All those fixed sized windows, ... Good luck!

Any chance you could expand on the improvements on the graphical side of things? What are you especially working on?

In other words, any chance of a pre-release of MWs "What's new" adverts Helmet Wink

FWIW, I love the 3D side of things to bits. There is just something about the bitmaps, animations, the miniature style of things that "feels so right". With all the latest graphics tools available to Panzer Corps series, it just is not the same. Quite the contrary, looks rather silly in my not so humble opinion.

It is the 2D side of things that could really do with a better resolution though. It here I'd just love to have a change for PNG counters, like what is available in say TOAW.

But never mind, I am sure you guys know what you are doing.

This made my day Helmet Smile

It was with some trepidation that I "came out" in this forum. I figured it would be a good morale boost.

But I also think I should devote virtually all of my time to the workload before me, not chatting at the forums (here and at Matrix). Not until I have more than just wish list items dreamed of, not until I have actual accomplishments to report.

So it's best if I withdraw, return to my low profile, and remain silent for a while. Secret

But just so you know: The rest of the team and I will be working diligently on this. The Campaign Series is not dead! We will continue to work as hard as we can, and as much as time permits, to give the CS a new lease on life.
