I thought this was wrong and an error on Shrapnel part, and now I know it is. You can buy sturmpioneers that run around with 32cm rockets with no reduction in speed which is BS, in fact these rockets were carried by either modified PzI or HTs, unloaded and fired:

"In 1941, the Panzer Pionier Bataillon was one of the Panzer Divisions' strongest support elements with its 900 men and 200 vehicles. Its first two leichte Pionier Kompanien, mounted on the two-ton Pionier Kampfwagen III lorries, each had three leichte Pionier Zug armed with nine light MGs (18 in 1942) plus combat engineer equipment. In January 1941 the third Panzer Pionier Kompanie was reorganized as a fully armoured coy with a fourth light Zug providing support; the first two Panzer Pionier Zug each had five PzKpfw I Ausf. B (plus one in the Kompanie Trupp) modified to carry a detachable Ladungsleger (explosive load), while the third Zug had six SdKfz 251 equipped with the Wurfrahmen 40 rocket launcher, a device capable of firing 280mm high-explosive and 320mm incendiary rockets…

I'm not familiar with Steel Panthers but if they are infantry maybe they merely carry a radio to direct the fire. If they are a vehicle then the idea that they would enter a battle area with their rockets pre loaded in the racks doesn't seem out of the question. though I would definitely say they are more vulnerable to fire and should not be allowed to reload their 6 rockets in the battlefield. No, they carry them like a weapon with no reduced speed. I could accept it if the rockets were trailer mounted and they moved them around by hand at a reduced speed, but the rocket in the game is the same as a rifle.
These are not fun units to play against...all flame weapons are brutal.
Any seasoned player using these is not showing Good Form IMO.
Hopefully SPCAMO will change the weapon...if anyone ever make a reasonable complaint backed up with evidence they cannot refute...nudge nudge Jester
Ah hah Weasel!,you found an explotive flaw that few use in game in later years but it's not a secret.
Personally i would never ever use them even if i could, because of their questional usage,i'd rather say no evil and recieve no evil if you get my drift(;
Are you sure there is 320mm? the only one i've know of is the SturmPio SS 28mm(range of 43 and warhead 45) which is bad enough.
Anyway, they should not be dragged around with grunts.
Now the cat is out the bag, lets gather the evidence and get it changed before this years upgrade if possible.

I don't not have anything at all to do with shrapnel anymore, any time you bring something to them, whether a question, observation or complaint they bitch at you and tell you to basically F-off. Walrus didn't believe me until he tried it and got the same treatment. You should have seen the shit storm I created when I asked the simple question of "how does the AAA routine work".

Just look at the 1941 stormpioneer, they have the 320mm. I mean how stupid could the guy who wrote that OOB be, 10 guys running around with 5 320mm flame rockets, weapons, ammo, etc etc.

They will be banned in the any further tournaments I run.
Weasel my friend.. there is a very simple solution to this... simply mod the oob file.. then when you play an opponent, let them know that one of the agreements for the game is to use the mod oob.. if they don't wish to use it, then move to another opponent.. or when a tourmey is run.. all players who sign up play by the tourney rules, include the use of the special oob..

Cheers!

I brought this up in a previous thread, I also thought it was total BS that they run around with 5 huge rockets! These rockets where mounted on something how the hell would they be able to fire them otherwise! Yeah I never buy them anymore, it's considered cheating in my book.
I am reading a book called "In the fire of the eastern front" by Hendrick C. Verton who was a Dutch volunteer in the Viking Div, and on page 52 he writes: "This Division was one of the armoured divisions, equipped with rocket-launchers and machine gun squads and we bore the burden of those machines. We had to carry them, which we did...."

Now you could read this two ways, 1. that they carried them physically into battle as per the OOB, or 2. being armoured they were carried on vehicles (machines). I still lean towards 2.

Seaking of banned, IIRC I think they tossed me off the Shrapnel site in '04 or so. I was laughing at them for turning the tank turret to the front after the end of turn. Propeller Hat
