Somewhere along the way, and several patches, the settings choice for 'background music' disappeared from the 'settings' drop down menu on my Eckmuhl. Was this deliberate or am I the victim of a fiendish plot to deprive me of martial music? Batman Confused
As an addition to Havoc's problems, I had mentioned that some time ago, I had no sound effects in Waterloo and I thought somebody had told me to delete some dll file, but cannot remember who it was or what file and I don't even know if the same file would effect music and sound effects the same or not, but just thought I would mention it in case someone else's memory serves them better than mine does me.

I never play my games with the sound on, so I never noticed before which titles had background music and which ones did not. I did look at Leipzig and 1814, and neither one of those titles shows having it. On the other hand, Waterloo does have it. Even though I never would listen to it, I would still have it activated which I was told would help slow down the replays which would allow for a player to follow the gun action better.

Did you ever try contacting HPS support? If so, what did they say?

You can add the music to 1814 and Leipzig just by copying one of the Music folders from the other games to the one in question. I always listen to the music, helps cover up the screams of my dying troops.

Eckmuhl had music in the beginning, then it went away. Did HPS decide to do away with it in the patches, or is it an unintended glitch? Guess I'll have to ask the support.
In response to Compass, removing that dll file worked, I've had sound effects ever since. I unclicked the background music in all my games, I just want the sound effects. Removing that file has not interefered with game play at all, I have, but the removed file has not. :)

Glad to hear the you can hear again! Wink
Suggestion: just use Media player to play a Playlist of your fav. music. That is what most of us are doing when we want some music with our game.

I am not sure what the official answer is on this but it is a minor change.
