I'm working on the .org files for the Khalkhin Gol/Nomonhan series in RS. I can't think which Russian side I need to oppose the Japanese...Russia or Soviets?
Old age sucks.
You want the ones up top of the org file, Rod, 00 country, not the ones down at the end, 24, those are the bad guys!!

Thanks Mike.
Russia it is.
Someone went to a lot of trouble building up the higher formations specific to the Khalkin Gol/Nomonham battles in the Soviet org....shame they're on the wrong side.

Are the Russian / Soviet OOBs otherwise similar, ie. do they use similar unit IDs apart from the first two digits (country code)? I am at work and can't see the files.

If so, adding the Khalkin Gol/Nomonham formations to other OOB as well should not be too much work, with a decent word editor. Just some find-and-replace magic a modern programmer's text utility such as jEdit can do quite nicely...

Unless there are new platoon types introduced as well, in which case it gets of course more complicated with encryptions, unit bitmaps etc...

I've done a bit of OOB transfering while creating the new Allied Finland and Allied Germany countries to EF within my mod, so should you want some assistance give me a shout Salute
How are you doing, Petri?
It's not much trouble to build up the 57th Special Rifle Corps etc from scratch, and differences in the actual OOB exist dependent on which source I use. I have just about finished the work, which in any event helps to keep an old retiree busy. I did find a largely Russian source, with some limited English translation, which might be the most authoritative, but is of little use to me.
Noting your proximity to Russia, can you read the language at all?
Cheers Rod, I am well thank you Helmet Smile

I'm afraid I can't help you with Russian translation, don't know the Cyril alphabets let alone language but simplest daily idioms. Now I could order you a beer at a local PECTOPAH, but I guess that won't take us far in understanding military documents...

Have you tried Google Translate: http://translate.google.com/

It works pretty well from Russian to English, I've used it when reading Russian sites.

Hope this helps...

I will give the site a try. Thanks, mate.
What Russian sites are you using? Always happy to learn of more sources!

On further examination, I can probably get more out of this than my initial rather cursory look. There appears to ber a lead into the Winter War. I have also done up a scen on the Lake Khasan Incident (aka Changkufeng) but I don't seem to have the time to get it into a decent game, as opposed to a historical demonstration.
