Hi Guys

IN a game of winSPww2 v5.0 (July 1941 Ger v Russia) I have just discovered that I cannot see the icon for German Armoured trucks.

The game sees the unit, my troops can 'see' them when I use the Target feature, they can Op fire against them...but the icon itself will not show up.
My opponent (who is playing Germany) is having no problem and I sent the files to Weasel, who also could see them.

I just did two fresh installs of WW2, from v1 with all the patches up to v5.0
and I still cannot see the icon.
When I go to the encyclopedia the unit is there, but still shows no icon in the encyclopedia info page.

So...I have no idea.
Has anyone else experienced this?

The icon is called 3028

I have looked through the directory and I cannot find where the icons live, so have no idea how I would replace / add it in even if I could find it somewhere.

I can keep playing the battle but I would love to know what might be happening.

I took a look, and the unit you describe is:

Armoured Truck
Unit no. 983 (983 in the encyclopedia and OOB edit)
Formation no. 518 (when purchasing two)
Icon no. 3028
Shape file: Icon0054 (and it's #30 in that shape file)

I wonder if you're missing a patch?
Because #983 is so high that it was probably a later addition to the OOB.

You should have the main download 1.0, plus 8 patches.

1: 1.0
2: 1.1B
3: 2.0
4: 2.5
5: 3.0
6: 3.5
7: 4.0
8: 4.5
9: 5.0


I took a look at Icon0054 and the file is dated 25 Mar 2006.
Which would likely make it part of the original 1.0 or the patch 1.1B.

Are you sure you have patch 1.1B?

Thanks for the info.
I have all those patches, inc. 1B
I collect them when they come out and stash them.
They are the same ones I have always used when up-grading or doing a fresh install.
I have used armoured trucks before and also had them used against me...never a problem up until now.
The install I am using for the game in question has not been altered or added to since the last patch.
The fresh installs I did to test were done in fresh directories.

I will re-DL all the patches and find the original CD and start the install from that. Maybe something has become corrupted?

Is there a way i can get a file or folder that contains that icon (would it be shape file #ICON 0054 perhaps) from someone who has the correct one and just drop it into the correct directory?
That would be an easy fix...but is it possible?

I did think of the possibility of a corrupted file, but I'd think that would be quite rare.

I attached Icon0054 to this post.

Unzip it and then put it the
GRAPHICS folder

The Graphics folder, is found in the GAME DATA folder, which is in the WinSPWW2 folder.

Let's see if that fixes the problem.

It could be a corrupted OOB file, so the icon could be fine but the unit is not able to point to the icon.

If the Icon0054 file doesn't work, try replacing the German OOB.

Go into the OOBs folder (also found iin the GAME DATA folder)
Delete spob016
Go into the DEFAULT OOBS folder (in the OOBs folder)
Copy spob016 and then paste it into the main OOBs folder.

I just attached Icon0054 to the above the post.

Yesterday I attached it to an earlier post rather than the above post, so you may not have seen it.

I took a look at Jason's game file and the trucks appear for me, so something is N/S on his end.

Just copied in your Icon file and suddenly...Armoured Trucks.
No idea why my file would be incorrect / broken / whatever happened...but that fix was the one.
