Hey all, please unzip this into your KWM folder, and overwrite. There is a log in the zip of what got changes essentially all the PLA infantry were just plain too strong. Combined with the unique Human Wave ability, most scenario's were finding the UN sitting in a prison camp, scratching their heads, saying, what the F just happened!!!Helmet Wink

These units have showed to be much more realistic in testing, any scenario's with them ideally should be modified to contain about a reduction to 25% of existing units being regulars (the default, which I kept in), the rest should be the Green units. However, if you don't want to, the existing rifle platoon is reduced in firepower already, so it will most likely be ok. Again, sorry for yet another update, but this is what is so important about testing!!! Here is the file-http://dl.dropbox.com/u/58654449/New%20PLA.zip

Enjoy, and happy gaming!!
Ashley and I are only a couple of turns in but it seems my PLA are running away after one shot. We'll see how it goes.
Hey Paul, yeah, I'm not digging these green guys at all, I'm playing Mike West in the Chipyongni scenario, I had added a good amount of those, and can't get anywhere, can't even attempt human wave, as everyone is disrupted all the time. I'm very discouraged, and am taking the night off. I think the regular troops are ok, since another battle with Hawk seems to be doing ok, but these green guys blow it...
That's what testing is all about. Take a deep breath, take a night or two off, and tweak it some more.
Hello All,

After looking at the change log I would leave the green units in with the following change:

Make sure that their defense, morale and action costs are the same.

From what I have read the PLA was poorly trained across the board. It was really just a matter of how well (or poorly) they where equipped.

Instead of calling them green how about:

(US Arms)
standard equipped: 6-4-2
under equipped: 5-3-1
poorly equipped: 4-2-1

All three levels having same action cost, morale
and assault value (grenades were readily available)

(Japanese Arms)
standard equipped: 5-3-1
under equipped: 4-2-1
poorly equipped: 4-2

All three levels having same action cost, morale
and assault value (grenades were readily available)

SMG Units (This mirror the Russian WW2 SMG units)
standard equipped: 6-3-1 Assault 9
under equipped: 4-2 Assault 8
poorly equipped: 2 Assault 8

same action cost and morale

Combat Engineer Unit
standard equipped: 7-5-2 (slightly less than it UN counter part)
under equipped: 5-3-1
poorly equipped: 4-2

Same morale, action cost and assault.

Most PLA units should be in the under equipped category.

I believe this will solve the firepower issues (which the PLA had) without making the PLA units brittle (they were not).

The PLA will need to use manpower to defeat the UN not firepower.

So if you play the PLA expect lots of losses but the ability to swarm the UN defenders despite these losses.

Hope this helps.

Thanx!

Hawk

Update!! Yet another update to the units in progress, under testing right now. This latest batch seem to be the ticket, finally, also adjusted the infantry companies so that the correct mix will be selected. Stay tuned....
Cheers Mike, looking forward to it Helmet Smile

Once you are happy do you think you could re-package the whole lot (Korean Mod) to a one complete installation again?

I am yet to download your mod again, having re-installed JTCS, and would like to get it right as last time I messed it up somehow :)

Absolutely!
Any news?
Hi Paul,

Testing seems to be going well, still not sure 65% chance of starshell is enough yet, sometimes you get it, other times still 3-5 times until someone pops it. I don't like that, I've heard enough of vets who've used them claim they don't malfunction like that. Way I look at it, I provide usually up to 20 rounds of flares per game, if you want to use them all up quickly, why not? If someone, preferably two people would like to test Chip'yong-ni with the new files, I would be happy to supply them?! I have too many going on right now to do it myself!!
