Nice looking vehicles Cross!

Keep up the good work! Thumbs Up
Those are beautiful, well done. Looking forward to a bundled release :)
That is fantastic work there bro, I hope the guys from SPCAMO take them on as the 'normal' icons...they are well worth it.
Otherwise, looking forward to a Cross release.
Cheers
Thank you for the compliments!

I would love to see SPCAMO overhaul the soft vehicles - it's the most neglected segment of the OOB - but I won't hold my breath.

I will release some new SHP files in the future, ideally a 'lite' version that will only change some of the original soft vehicle icons to more accurate and vehicle specific icons. It's not possible to change all of them as some soft-vehicle icons are generic and used by both Axis and Allies. But you could use the 'lite' version with 'vanilla' OOB.

And a comprehensive version with OOB changes that would include all of the above vehicles, and would correct existing OOB errors (which for soft vehicles are numerous).

Awesome job Cross, where would we be without your contributions?Salute4
The Icons look really good. Thanks
I really appeciate all the work done here, but they are mostly "just trucks" and not combat vehicles.

Only meant for transport and getting them away safe asap in this game,it must be a labour of love;)

Yes, they are mostly just trucks, and I don't expect everyone to be interested in the soft-vehicles. Some people don't care about the game sounds at all, and even play with the sound off, other players think they are just flags and are not interested in the size or historical accuracy of the flags.

But I am hoping to get more people interested in the WWII trucks.

Currently in WinSPWW2, TEN different USA trucks are 2WD, but EVERY US Army truck in WWII should be 4WD or 6WD. So US players can't even transport and get away safely like they should.

Part of the problem is that most of the trucks in the game are generic, so without a label, who's to say if it's 4WD, how fast it should go, what size it should be and how many troops it should carry, and what it should look like?

M4 High Speed Gun Tractor
Here's a soft-vehicle that is named in the game, the M4 High Speed Gun Tractor (US unit 381):
The icon is smaller than a jeep and the game has it carrying 30 men. The M4 HS GT should carry about 12 men.

Here's a more accurate M4 icon:

Ammo Trucks

The game only uses generic ammo trucks that are all 2WD. All American, most German, and some Soviet and British ammo trucks should be 4WD.

Although the trucks are size 2 or 3, which is about right for battalion level ammo supply, the game uses icons that look like the largest truck you would ever see in WWII.

Here's the current German Munitions Truck size 3 icon :

Size 3 trucks should be at least half that size, size 2 trucks closer to a third of the size.

---

But mostly I just hope players take an interest in the actual vehicles used in WWII. There are some real classics that are recognized around the world and really should be in this game.

I've tried to include most of the best known or most widely produced vehicles in the list of icons in the OP, but if anyone thinks I'm missing one or two, let me know and I'll see if I can create an icon for it at least.
