Don't try to start with large scenarios until you are fully up to speed with the game systems and how PBEM operates, taking on a large scenario will only lead to frustration, build up to them over time.

Don't use optional rules (other than those set by the "default button") that you don't fully understand the consequences of their use and for the ones in use by default make sure you read this thread https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards...?tid=47923.

Be prepared for a human opponent to be 100x more clever than the AI, this is the greatest shock when you move from AI to PBEM, also what is considered "gamey" tactics differs from player to player, so if some tactics are a complete "no no" to you it might be worth chatting about that before you play turn 1.

When you post for a game state your ability as it will be no fun to play an expert if you are a newbie, however despite a crushing loss you may find seeing how experts play may bring your own playing ability up to a higher level quicker than playing another newbie, sort of "short term pain for long term gain", that is what happened to me anyway. ;)

Indeed, if there was not a PBEM option these titles would have been ditched years ago.
