As you complete and register your various game matches... it would be very helpful to both players and scenario designers... that you take a few extra seconds to include feedback in both the "Comments about the game" and "Notes about the scenario" sections! Big Grin

In addition to completing the "How is PBEM balancing" section (very important!)... these two comment fields can provide valuable feedback... and help supplement the scenario numerical ratings.

It does not have to be an essay... but a sentence or two can help.

"A tough one for the Allies to win."

"Winnable by the Russians."

"Terrain and mud conditions slowed play - plan accordingly."

"Not enough turns. Scenario turns should be increased by 1-2 turns."

As both a player and scenario designer... when looking for one to play... or reviewing how a scenario design is being received by the CS community... I always read players' comments and feedback! :)
I had the same opinion for a long time, but the thruth is that statistics tell you more. If one side all the time wins, you have some data to work with. Players comments are just too subjective.
The below scenario is balanced, yet the individual notes given would tell you its not. All the notes together however tell the same story as the statistics.

On the other hand I've also had scenarios where the first 5 wins went to the Allies, just when I got worried it appeared the next 5 wins went to the Axis.

Nonetheless it doesn't hurt if players leave comments and it makes the scenarios come alive a bit. I do recommend the designers to be a bit sceptical when it comes to comments.

Hi Huib,

(A slight off-topic post) - I have been playing your **A Pivotal Day For The 82nd - cracking good scenario - fantastic fun and serious meat grinder. Well done on a masterful creation.

My thanks to you.

Regards,
Ashley

LOL

"Very tough for German attacker"
"Very tough for Americans"

Good to know it will be a tough nut to crack whichever side you play?

I tend to agree with Mr KK: more personal comments the better. I often read them when deciding which scenario to play from a shortlist I've made.

I would state that statistics and subjective comments provide different types of feedback... and that comments help supplement the scenario numerical ratings (as stated earlier). Also, I believe that neither statistics or comments should be evaluated separately, but utilized together to generate a more "complete" picture of a scenario.

Agree. When designers / players review scenario comments, it is also a good practice to understand the individual's overall "Win %" who left the comment. I would be more inclined to accept the comments of a player who has a .600 + win percentage and has played a large number of different skilled players... than an individual who has a sub .200 win % and plays against the same 1-2 folks.
