What happens in this place there is less movement than in the North Pole?
The one title I would like to see lots of discussion on and lots of mods being produced ...is the quietest. If not for Cross we would have 0 mods in the last few years. Happily there are new scenarios being popped out every now and then over at the shrapnel forums.

Roman, maybe because the game is soooo old...er...mature, there is just not much to talk about anymore. :)
Very old game and the hard cores have moved on. I don't play SP anymore, totally bored with it but I have become totally engrossed with Combat Mission.

HEY!, who let those tumble-weeds in here!!
The phoenix will rise from the ashes........
I believe one of the main reasons for so little activity is that many players get distracted with other games new and old. In the end the true Steel Panthers, and tactical/boardgamers/turn based wargamers stay back or come back from either a brief or long pause.
I purchase/play the new shiny toys also...but I always have a PBEM of WinSPWW2 going. Still to this day I am amazed by the detail and tactical excellence and fun of this game. I have never been able to get into Combat Mission even though I own BtB and BO (I also have the demo of Normandy installed), not sure if it is the 3D that bothers me or the fact that I have not played enough yet to get comfortable with the system.
Roman,
I think it is just maybe quiet on the forum. In the background people just keep on playing. I have 5 games going on at the moment. Many times when one of them finishes either myself or my opponent challenges the other for a rematch. Therefore I play the same opponent regularly without having to post here to find a new opponent.
I think you must have a look at the number of games that have been reported in the last three months. That should be a good indicator on how quiet things are or how quiet it isn't, especially if you compare it to previous months. I haven't looked at it myself yet, so maybe it will surprise me as well.

Edit : Hmmm, I had a look at the ladder. It seems that you are right. A lot less games played and reported this year vs last year. A lot of 1 and 2 games played players makes the numbers seem even better than what they were, but that also happened last year.
Hmm, it seems you are correct. A lot less players appears on the ladder this year in comparison to last year.
My theory is that the center of gravity for SP has moved to one of the Russian sites. Over the last 5 years or so, Russians have taken to SP like ducks to water.
That shouldn't be a surprise, given the historic position of Russia in the development of Combined arms warfare and Mechanized tactics.
I suspect the only reason we haven't seen a Russian mod of MBT is that Russia is finally taking international laws on copyrights seriously.
The Blitz will hang on because it is in english, which is rapidly becoming the international language of choice. So folks that don't read Cyrillic need someplace to go.

I was the same at first, hated CM and gave the games back to my friend; but then I tried them again but this time played some mentor games and now I love it. That your troops do what they want to do, and not what you tell them to do, is the best part.
