Hi Guys and Gals, I am looking for the British CS support tank(s) that can be referenced on page 58 of the game manual and which states;


“The British CS support tank can generate smoke regardless of whether or not any smoke is available. This unit can fire smoke into any hex in its Line of Sight by holding the Alt button and right clicking in the target hex.”

I have found 2 British tanks which have a SMOKE icon to the left of the unit in the units list when playing the game and they are;

The British “CRAB” and the

British “Churchill AVRE”

But when I try to fire smoke I get an error message that the units can not fire smoke even though they have the smoke icon. These were found in the 1945 OOB.

So either I still have not found the correct smoke capable tanks;
The smoke icons next to the tank units are incorrect; or
There may be a coding error?

Getting back to the wording on page 58 and based on the “Line of Sight” wording and which addresses the Direct Fire smoke capable units, I feel that the wording should be changed to that the weapon can fire into a hex in it’s “Line of Sight” and is limited to the firing range of the weapon being used and which is left out.

But any who, does anyone know where to find these units and which year OOB they can be found or are these misprints and or coding errors.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks Jason you were right on target, found them in Dec1940, A9 CS, A10 CS and A13 CS. So are the smoke icons on the units i mentioned incorrect? and is there anything in the works so these types of units can fire smoke the full length of their range, meaning units other than the ones I found in the 1940 OOB?

Hello All,

The Crab and ARVE are engineer vehicles and fire smoke the same way an engineer would.

The ARVE had a 290mm spigot mortar the only fired an HE warhead. It had no ranged smoke capacity.

And the Sherman Crab has the same gun as a regular Sherman. A regular Sherman can't fire smoke in CS.
