Gentlemen,
From Monday 31st I shall be out of action for a few days while I set up and configure my new machine, hopefully all will go well. I will get as many turns out today as I can and update this post when I'm back up and running.

Any issues I should know about when installing CS on windows 7 ?

cheers

Hey Terry! :smoke:

I recently upgraded to a new laptop PC running Windows 7.

A couple of lessons learned: :cool2:

1. Do a "clean" reinstall of the CS game. Don't try to migrate an earlier version (mine was WIN XP) onto a Windows 7 OS platform. Yes, you will have to "re-start" with the default EF/WF/RS scenarios... but you will save yourself some headaches by not seeing the dreaded "Error 486."

2. Windows 7 defaults to a bottom screen task bar that will "hide" some of the CS game information - like game turns and out of range messages. So, you need to auto-hide the bottom taskbar. Select Start > Control Panel > Taskbar and Start Menu > click on "Auto-hide the taskbar option" (under taskbar tab)

Hope my advice helps you avoid some of my "hair pulling" episodes with Windows 7! :eek1:

BTW... CS is very stable and runs well on Windows 7. cheers

The only problem I found under 7 the unit data from help menu no longer works :( , i.e. I could view it under XP.

I am able to view unit data (F2) running CS on Windows 7... so not sure what may be wrong with your install? :chin:

I can view the unit daa under F2. I was thinking of unit, parameter data from the top menu. Before one could vie tables with all unit data listing. Assault resul tables etc. Now I am getting a generic windows help window. This is a bit annoyig because I cannot check enemy unit data with F2. And this parameter data listed all units in CS so I could check what was the enemy unit fire range, armor etc. Now I cannot do it during the move.
I'm just about back up and running now, but am having a few problems with some of my e-mail accounts which will take today to sort out.

The upgrade was mostly a pleasant experience, I should also be installing CS today too so expect a turn later or tomorrow If I owe one. cheers
