Full Version: King Tiger vs Leopard 2

Good day gentlemen,

I find myself pondering the question how PzC and MC fire values relate to one another, after noticing that in PzC the King Tiger tank has a higher hard attack value than a modern tank like the Leopard 2 in MC (60 vs 34 respectively; in BP'45 some Tigers have a hard attack value of 76 no less).

The only difference between PzC and MC in terms of handling fire values, as far as I can see, seem to be the combat values in the pdt file. In MC these are 150% of the values in PzC, which merely seems to account for the increase in combat time per turn from two to three hours. Even increasing the Leopard 2's hard attack value by 150% only gets us to 51.

I'm sure this must have come up before, but I can't find anything on it. Any light shining on this would be much appreciated...

Hans
Well, the two game series were never (initially) intended to have comparable unit ratings. As far as I know, the MC series values are factored down to keep the numbers in the same range as PzC. I advocate consistency across the board even if it results in very high combat factors in the modern series, but there are about an equal number of people in both camps that support or oppose the idea so it isn't worth arguing over -- it is what it is.

If however you want comparable unit values from PzC and MC series, then you should try the _Alt scenarios where the values are just that. Some people like it, some people hate it, you just have to try out things and see if you like it. Of course you can always change the unit values to what you prefer as well. ;)
Thanks, I was wondering if I was overlooking something. Yes, I've been looking into the alt values, as well as experimenting with higher values in general, and will continue to do so. Consistency would indeed seem favourable in two game series that are otherwise so similar.
