Full Version: Disrupted units spotting for air/arty should be penalized

been thinking about this the past few weeks-particularly due to playing the France 40 campaign game. Units that are disrupted spot just as well as non disrupted units. And with frogs and belgians being disrupted/heavily fatigued, I find that their ability to spot 100% for arty a bit unfair.

Why not penalize disrupted units and count them as isolated when calling in air/arty?
In Danube Front disrupted or out of command units spot air and artillery at on 50%. Is it not the same in PzC?

All I see in a cursory re-read of the rules is that broken units can't spot at all - which makes sense - and that detached units spot at 50%. Nothing mentioned about about disruption unless I'm missing something.

yah mon....disrupted units suffer no penalty in pzc when spotting for air/arty

Penalty - it is black and white call here.
...and the call says Disrupted units can spot, Broken can't.
Trying to introduce grey area "penalties" would add nothing to the game and add complexity leading to people thinking there was a bug when it didn't work consistently.

Given the game engine as works all these years is disrupted units able to spot, ...up until now at least - I figure it is OK.

It makes perfect sense to me.

Disruption signifies problems with unit cohesion, generally speaking.

It doesn't take an entire organization to spot for artillery, just a single FO team with a radio, telephone, or runners.
