The Wife and Daughter both decided they needed new phone plans so a PS3 showed up at the door yesterday.

I figure maybe I could use it in the Winter when I am waiting for HPS France '14 turns.

So any suggestions as to games or Hardware I should get? I have a couple hours of XBOX HALO under my belt and thats it for console experience.

I will get MLB11, but any other suggestions appreciated.

The following games are all highly rated & are inexpensive ($29.99 or less) as they have been out for quite a while.

1) Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (Indiana Jones type treasure hunting game)
2) Uncharted: Among Thieves (sequel to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune)
3) Resistance: Fall of Man ("alternate history" FPS set in 1950's Britain)
4) Resistance 2 (sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man but the action moves to the US)
5) Infamous (open world "sandbox" game where you play a superhero with rather shocking powers)
6) Call of Duty: World at War (standard WW II FPS)

Games to avoid (full of bugs, bad graphics, bad storyline, etc.)

1) Homefront (crappy FPS in which North Korea is somehow able to defeat & occupy the continental US)
2) Fallout: New Vegas (I don't own the game but from what I've read it has some serious bugs).

You can find information on most if not all the games that I've listed can be found on Wikipedia.

Hope this helps & happy gaming...cheers
Hook it up to a nice 1080P HDTV set with an HDMI connection and a good surround sound system. Dont forget the PS3 is one of the best Bluray players as well so get some sweet bluray war movies and enjoy!
Forgot to mention this.

You may want to get a battery charger for your controller(s). There are few relatively inexpensive ones out & they will eliminate the need for the controller to be connected to the PS3 when it needs charging. You'll find that you get about 10 hours or so of play before the controller needs to be charged (depending on how much you use it of course).

If you can pair (register) your TV remote with your PS3 that's even better. The PS3 controller is a pain in the :censored: when you're watching movies. The battery gets drained faster too. Sony has a remote designed specifically for the PS3 but why spend more money if you don't have to.
And do not sign up for their internet service unless you feel lucky. Sony was hacked badly a month or so ago and now Nintendo servers have been hacked three weeks ago. Nintendo took a page from the Sony PR book and failed to acknowledge the break in for three weeks.

Just a real black eye for the console gaming industry.
