What is with the fascination with Kursk? What am I missing? It was a slugfest, a bunker-busting crawl. Even France '14 has more mobile action.

The only thing I can figure is that it was the last time the Germans had powerful mech forces that had any real chance of of accomlpishing something. Of course that chance was squandered because the Russians knew it was comming in every detail.
For me personally, I think the interest -- wouldn't call it fascination in my case as I'm not that interested -- stems largely from Soviet-era hype on the battle in general and Prokhorovka in particular. I don't at all mean to undercut the historical significance of the campaign, but now that the records of both sides are public, it seems that the armored forces involved weren't nearly as large as the propaganda had led us to believe. It nonetheless appears to me that the Kursk campaign was the Germans' last chance to reverse the tide in the East. It was a slim chance at best, but after Kursk there was no chance at all.
I am not sure where the question came from, but just in case it is because I indicated we were going to update it next, "the fascination" is that it is one of several titles players have asked for updates on and when we look over a list of who wants what, and when the various titles have last been updated, we see Kursk is due. Hasn't been updated in a few years in fact.
Well for what it's worth I'd like to see Kharkov '42 updated next.

Not that I'm fascinated with it or anything. :cheeky:
I can be wrong, but for me, the Battle of Kursk is interesting, because it was one of the biggest panzer-battles ever, and the last attempt to take an initiative on the East Front from the Germans, even if the whole Second World War was already lost (in my opinion).

I was just asking in general, although the announced update got me thinking about the whole thing.
It is intersting to hear whats just been said.
Not sure what the update will involve, but if it were to include a scenario of the same battle in May 43 as soon as the mud had dried, and before the SU could build up their reserves, then it might be an entirely different battle altogether.

The update includes all program enahancements, new optional rules added and if there are any reported issues in scns, or OOB those can be addressed too. Funny things is, often we put out a update only to have people look at it as say "jeez, did you fix the ...." when we didn't know it was broken in the first place.

The update does not include new scns - interested parties who want to pursue this can do so with the editors.
