Your timing couldn't be better. I've been kicking around about trying to create my 1st scenario and I was actually playing around with the editor, yesterday, with no such luck. These instructions will be a huge help.

Thanks!

To Mad_Dog, TheBigRedOne: Would Mike's post be a very good addition to the "Important Threads" section?
I agree - tyvm!

Had a side question if anyone happens to know:

I'm starting to experiment with the scenario design tools. I had an idea for a scenario involving UN troops. Is it possible to create a new force like this? I could create the unit counters, display boxes, the UN file directory. I imagine many of the friendly and enemy weapon systems modeled in modern war can be referenced by a UN force. It looks like the supporting data is in a sql database format.

Was curious if anyone had tried experimenting with this idea.

A historical research question:
Research material for modern war. The scenario's released in modern war seem to cover just about every major firefight and battle that i know about in the last 10 years of this conflict. I'm searching for information I can draw on to create new scenarios... any suggestions? I find it hard to locate anything that has enough facts in it to start modeling a situation.
The nationalities are hard coded to the system. So, no.

On the research question, I think even with the topics covered in the game, there are more potential scenarios to mine. I just picked up New Dawn, battles for Falujah and there are plenty of interesting situations to be worked over....
I was curious about a mod: The Long War, based on soviet afghan war. I only own 1 squad battles game: Modern War.

It appears that the author of the Long War was possibly able to create new counters, box art & database entries to reflect forces not initially in the hps release or were all those nationalities in the soviet afghan release already?
In The Long War, the Taliban are Mujahideen and all the Coalition forces are Soviet. That is one thing you can't get around, to my knowledge anyway. Everything else is pretty open to modification.
