The "Last Man Standing" Tournament is about to begin and I'm currently soliciting players.

The Tournament is a "No holds barred" style tourney, where players can use any type of unit from any country - no limits on OOB's. Players are either RED or GREEN. The goal of each game will be to completely destroy your opponent's forces on the map. The winner will move on to the next round, the loser...is OUT! This will continue on to the final two for a final Battle Royale for the LAST MAN STANDING.

This tournament is about game play. It is not, by design, historic or in any way realistic. What it is, is fun. The complete tournament rules are attached here in WORD document (if you can't view from here, I can send you the rules via email).

Set-up procedures, parameters, scoring, and the "size zero issue" are all covered in the rules.

If you are interested or have any questions, you can reply here or shoot me an email. I'd like to get at least 12, but the more the merrier. And, we can play with less.

Once we have the players set, I'll have a Tournament Thread set-up which will cover the players, parameters and results for each round.

If you've never played in tournament before, this will be a relatively easy one to start. As traditional tactics will be out the window, to some regard, new guys may want to give this a shot.

I am currently designing some medals...for those of you into that sort of thing:)

Which of you will be...The LAST MAN STANDING
Hello. Count on me. Then I read the rules.
Is for winspmbt?
I'll play.
Although my purpose here is finding out how to start a tourney. I have prepared 3 scenarios and I'm starting on a 4th. Now I need to know what to do with them.
Gunslinger you Rascal.. this is a game after my own heart.. need to know what time frames this will be in.. my preferences as you know are ww2 to about the mid '70's... avoids the domination of technology on the battlefield..

but.. let us know the when's and I'll decide..

otherwise looks like fun..

I like the way you have made it necessary to choose how many '0' size units to buy.. use them to kill things, but loose the points for victory condition if you have too many.. nice trade off I think..

Suggestion for you.. since the 'red' and 'green' armies were sort of set to represent the third world... or other less advanced armies.. you might wish to modify your tourney rules and have the 'troop training' turned off and the related value on the options screen set at 70-75.. will go along ways to even out the armies involved..

Cheers!

You should mention which game the tournament will use Big Grin

As long it's WW2 or MBT I'm in.

/Fred
I'll play.
I would think that the use of 'Red' and "Green" would indicate WinMBT. AFAIK, WW2 has no 'red or 'green'. I will admit not playing WW2 this century, so it might have been added. Has 'red' and 'green' been added to the WW2 nation mix?
Should I point out 'opportunities'? I won't call them flaws since this is a no holds barred tourney and if I see a way to game the tourney. just hope you don't draw me. I'll hope you don't see what I saw. Any of them.
BTW Gunslinger, If you want I will use the tourney option to try and set up the maps, It comes with a clean map (no flags placed ) and I can set the weather (vis) and turns for everybody at the same time. Not sure if you can do that without a set-up but it won't take long to find out. I'm not going to start on a new scenario for my tourney until I get feed back from the one I just finished.
If this is WW2 or before 1965 I'm in.
No, the tournament option won't work. Or maybe I should say I found no way to set the map without units on it.
Sorry Guys - left an important fact off...

This tournament will be SPWW2.

If all goes well then we can do an MBT Last Man Standing after. I felt that WW2 was the most popular game, and frankly, it is mostly point and shoot - no worries about thermals, IR, TOWS, Thermobaric, etc. So, an easy place to start.

RE: Tourney mode - I wasn't aware of the issue low_bidder found, but I felt many don't have the CD version - so, we'll make do with a standard PBEM Battle format. The resetting of the VH's is really the only issue of significance, and it's not that difficult to adjust.

RE: Time Frames - I assume means dates of the battles. The battles will begin in mid-1944 and will progress based on the number of rounds. The final battle will be mid-1946.

RE: "RED" and "GREEN" - you can definately choose them in WW2.

RE: Troop Training - GB, I didn't see any difference when I made the purchases in some play testing...however, I really looked for set-up, purchase, and deployment issues. I didn't play it out with AI very far. I'll take a look at it before we start. Any adjustments to the preferences will be given by me prior to the start of each round. A lot of this will be based on player feedback during and after each round.

RE: "Opportunities" - Low_Bidder, if you want to play in it - I'd keep these to myself. This tournament may end up being very, very "gamey" - but on the otherside, it may display how the basic tactics continue to work the best. Whatever you can think of, that the game can do, is allowed.

I count 6 guys in, so far:

Roman - Low_Bidder - GreyBeard - 2ndLt_Fjun - dark_wing -Panama

That's half a bracket right there. I'll keep it open until around January 23rd or so...with a projected Kick-off date of January 26th.

Once I have all the players, I'll post a thread with the brackets or, if fewer than 12, the 1st opponents. I'll also post the round 1 preferences and other set-up info. This will be followed by an email to each player with the same information.

I can't promise much with this "experiment," but I can promise a lot of destruction and mayhem. And, who doesn't want that.
