Full Version: Removed Thread-regarding saving your customizations

To all,

I have just removed a thread that was primarily dedicated to saving your add ons, battle files, and other items not installed by the game when switching between machines. As many people both read and posted into the thread, I wanted to let you all know about this, so there wouldn't be any claims of anything nefarious going on. This was done for two reasons, first the original posted asked that it be removed and also I still have doubts that the method would do what was posted.

I will be testing that further.

In the meantime, as one of the key points raised originally was the saving of custom files, rest assured as I stated in the thread any content you add or create will be left behind if you uninstall the game to move one of your two copies to a different machine - the uninstall only removed files installed by the game. But that does mean be sure to use different file names if you change anything that comes with the game, which makes sense anyway - but especially art if you don't save the zip file it probably starts out in.

Any questions please contact me off line. The thread I removed is still on the Blitz and can be restored if need be.

Thanks
Rick
I can understand the thread being removed at the original poster's request but, to also remove it as you don't believe the work-round' would work, quote -
''and also I still have doubts that the method would do what was posted.'' along with ''Any questions please contact me off line. ''
is a bit draconian?
The guy was trying to help the community and, I feel a better way would have been for you to test the theory out for your own satisfaction and then, if the theory was found to be incorrect, then tackle it in the the thread.
After all, this is meant to be a forum for discussion?
Thanks for your input. Keif149 and I discussed it, he doesn't seem to have a problem with it. My tests, which require one more part that I can't do until tomorrow, seem to indicate that it won't work, at least I tried 3 more computers today and none of them worked, as would be expected.

As it seemed to lead to major misperceptions about it requiring some amazing amount of acumen to run the game so it wouldn't be purchased, apparently just because of that thread, I felt it might leave too many mis-perceptions on top of the poster request - no matter what I posted in follow up.

Discuss away, and as long as personal attacks are avoided posts won't be touched, generally. Keif149 was trying to help the community, please open some discussion without your borderline negative comments about others, as from that thread (there is always one? something like that) and help us too, that would be great to see from you sir.

As has been stated in the past by others helping with our forums, we don't guarantee free speech, we moderate for the benefit of the community here and all posters and members, with as un-"draconian" a policy as we feel we can. And if we come across anything leading toward returning the thread, I will do so then, thanks.

Rick
The forum moderator has spoken with the poster of the thread. The forum moderator is correct in removing the posts in question.

Thank you glint for your concern, but RickyB's decision to remove the material he did a closed case.

It's true. Rick and I have been talking, and I'm cool with everything.
He also knows it's my express wishes the thread not be reinstated.
:)

Happy Gaming
