If interest is lacking, maybe some of the poweres that be can set up a general run through ww2. People could sign up for allies or axis and fight the war through the scenarios in large teams. The larger scenarios would be team games, number of members designated by the overall commander of axis or allies. Points awarde each scenario and bonus points awarded to the winning team. If sign on as allied, you cannot be axis or cannot be axis or russian (if split three ways). You can sign on one of the other teams if it is run a second time. Lots of possibilities.

Or could be split three ways, western allies, Russians and axis and the axis team has to manage it's team between EF and WF. They can play WF first scenario and then be in a scenario in EF the second time.

Persons can only be in one scenario at a time. Scenarios can be posted with number of available slots if it is a solo or team game and players can claims the available slots or overall CinC designates his available commanders to available slots leaving members no choice in what scenario they play in. When you think about it, commanders didn't really have a choice of where they were to command.

Just an idea. May have to ask to see if there would be much interest.
That's a really good idea.

I'm in. Sounds briliant.
Great idea! :) I am in as well !!
Very interesting. Actually OUTSTANDING. How would the "sides" choose who is assigned to which battles? Would there be a leadership hierarchy (good for winning) or a rotation (good for everyone getting to play)?

I like this idea a great deal.

This IS an awesome idea, isn't it!

Something like this? (pls add comments & thoughts)

- We need three High Commands, one for each Front: Allied West (USA UK et al), Allied East (Russia), and for Axis. Volunteers welcome, they should be established members with a proven record on endurance on these type of campaigns. Let us say ten (or whatever we can come up with) generals per allied side and double that for Axis.

- We need volunteers for Generals, to serve in teams under each High Command

- We need a list of scenarios from 1939 to 1945 for each front. Let us say 20 (30?, 40?) scenarios for each front. (Just making this up as I go along).

- Each High command, without being aware of other High Commands, distributes these scenarios evenly to each of his generals, himself included.

- The lists are then published, and let the War commence.

- The results of each battles are recorded to public to let everyone know how the war is progressing for each side

Something like this you had in your mind, Mark?
I am in - would enjoy this and please include the pacific theater.
I love this idea and would like to participate. The most fun I have with CS is via team games or campaigns.

One caveat is that Don Fox and fought through the WF scenarios from the earliest up to 1944 or so and unfortunately a good majority of the stock scenarios were designed for a human player against the AI (i.e. one side had mostly fixed forces or an overwhelming OOB).

Maybe the participants can volunteer to help create sections of a giant "Earlmann" style map. For instance a big section of the Low Countries and start the war with the historical OOBs in their positions. It would be a monster of a game, necessitating generals, etc.

I have been lousy in designing scenarios and creating maps but if we get enough folks then I would make the time to contribute.
I was just thinking stock and approved scenarios. However it is decided is fine.

CinCs should be as high as one can get of the best players available or some volunteers and set up a poll for each and let their volunteers vote on one. CinCs would have a list of scenarios and start with the first one and CinC decides it's a one man job. He then assigns one of his generals to play the scenario. Once the first one is started, then decides how many for the next scenario and then makes his assigmenets and so on. He also includes himself to a scenario if he feels he needs to be in charge of it. If scenario is deemed to have two or more commanders, he assigns them as well as designating the top commander for that team in that particular scenario.

I was also thinking that once the list of scenarios are set, maybe be sectioned off for different campaigns as well, say invasion of France and the low countries or something within a certain time frame, cannot have somebody in more than one scenario until all on the list have been assigned to one, since a commander cannot be in two places at the same time.

I didn't include the Pacific because I didn't know if there would be enough interest in doing something like this. But it could be done......if included it would further stretch the amount of commanders because you would be adding the Brits(Pacific), Japanese and US(Pacific) which would make 6 lists instead of three. It could also be done as a separate op from Europe so somebody could sign on to Europe as Western Ally and Pacific as Japanese if they wanted.

I figure the first thing would be to decide on how to designate a CinC for each side, whether a vote on those interested or convince some of the top tier guys to volunteer for it. Then let people sign up for whichever team they want to play on or have a list of everybody that wants in and have a random draft by the CinCs. Everybody wanting in has to be picked so everybody gets to play.

All games could be made a team game, it's just how you split the forces. But for this, say everything size 6 or higher would have to be a team game or size 0 to 4 would be one person, 5-8 would be two, 9-10 would be three or more, all decided by the CinCs.

Points can be scored by whatever rating from the end battle or by what the actual points scored in the battle. They would just be tallied for a total at the end of the whole war.

It's just an idea to spark other ideas to see what we can come up with.
Excellent idea! Count me in, also. Boisforas
