Hi there,

I have to change computer since my old work laptop has more or less broken down today. This will lead to delays in my gaming since I have to re-install everything and also try to make SPWW2 and SPMBT work with Windows 7 (wish me luck, I'm really not looking forward to that part). I might even buy a second-hand laptop with XP instead.

Sorry for all problems this may cause, especially for Jason and Chris with the AP tournament where we are late already with the game. Even though the timing is bad I can't really influence it since it's my work computer.

Fred suggest when you install do NOT put in programs file you may have trouble finding your PBEM files, seen reports compatability mode works well. Any current games in full security are stuffed they will not work as switched computers basic security will be okay.

Hi Fred
Thanks for the heads-up.
That's annoying eh.
Good luck getting it sorted.

We will take this into account re. end of tourney date...but do try to get it sorted asap...which I am sure you will Big Grin

Cheers
Walrus
Win7 with compatibility mode works just great, but the cheaper versions of win7 may cause you problem.
Thanks guys. I got my new computer now and I'll make a first attempt to install SPWW2 tonight. Got a Windows 7 Enterprise version from what I can tell.. hope that one works.

Hi there,

Did my best to set up the game and actually managed to play a turn. It's a bit annoying since the "whole screen" game didn't work and I had to play it in a little window in the middle of the screen. Sort of lost the overview of the battle. After setting the monitor resolution to the same as the game window resolution it got a bit better, but still didn't look good at all. Also tried some weird utility I found linked on the Shrapnel boards, but that didn't work at all.

I saw that higher resolutions are possible in the bought game. Would that make the game window bigger or would it just be another tiny window but with a higher resolution?
Fred I dont have Win 7 so perhaps someone can chip in with ideas.
Did have Vista for my sins & pretty similar issues Win 7 is just Vista 1.001
really.
This is from memory using CD got it to work fine on a laptop using 1280x1024 my prefered resoloution. My laptop was set to 1400x1050 so it nearly filled the screen. If I moved the window to the right could see far left row of desktop icons.

If you set the game to a higher res than desktop will fill the whole screen.

From a battle overview point of view either will give you a far better display than had as the quality of the display fully zoomed out is the same as you have at present fully zoomed in.
It will save your eyes as nice & crisp can see smoke puffs at max zoom etc.

Thanks John. Got the bought version installed now and it looks good :) Now I need to do the same for SPMBT and I'll be back on track again.
Fred, Don't know if you managed to fix the size of the screen thingy that you had a problem with. Have you checked that on the start-up screen or in the options screen, it didn't default to windowed size? I had the same problem with MBT when I installed it just prior to starting my game against you. I think I even asked you how I could fix it? My problem was that I had the windowed option selected instead of the full screen option. I can't remember the exact description of these options, but you will know what I mean when you see it.
If you can't find it, let me know and I will go and check exactly where it is and what it is called when I get home.

Hi there and thanks. I use Windows 7 now so the "full screen" option doesn't work at all.. colours are blurred out to the degree that I can't see anything. I'm going to fix it by buying the CD version of SPMBT too which would allow me to use windowed option with higher resolution. Worked nicely with SPWW2, so should be possible with MBT as well. Just need to find the time to download and install it :)
