Hi,

I"ve noticed that the kill recorder, little red tank icon that shows the number of kills that unit has had sometimes disappears at teh end of teh game.

I've just finished PBEM Mt Tumbledown and as I was looking at the final results I spotted a destroyed unit (actually I'm pretty sure it surrendered) that had no kills recorded, it also had no unit leader listed either. Earlier in the game that same unit had 3 kills. I went back and re-entered an eariler turn, from before it had been destroyed, and it was showing 3 kills at that time.

Any ideas what's going on?

It got destroyed. Dead dudes bring little experience to next battles.
Hi,
This was not a campaing battle. Just a regular PBEM.
The question remains why did three kills disappear from that unit.
The same thing happened to other units as well.
Is this a bug or a just the way it is?
As Vesku said how are you going to credit it with kills if the unit no longer exists, they still count towards total units killed though.
In the case of crewed units its the crew not the equipment that scored the kill so if it survived still has kills logged so of course a uncrewed unit has no kill log.
Pilots become Aces not their planes as an example.
Hi,
The replies are missing the point.
At teh end of the game, when the Battle Report screen appears and the "View Map" option is selected you can the surviving units. You can also scroll through all units in the battle.
Pressing the space bar brings up an information screen. This screen displays the number of kills that unit had. It works for all surviving and most destroyed units. However there are a couple of unit which had kills (which I confirmed by reloading a previous turn and looking there) that are not shown on this screen.

This has nothing to do with credits, points or scoring it's just an anomally that I have noticed, and I would like to know why the kills of some destroyed units are shown and others are not shown.
You are the person in the best position to find why as have save games & an intrest in, I am guessing 99.9% of players are like me & play the game without ever looking at how each unit did.
Firstly do some destroyed units keep & others loose if so whats the diffrence, unit type leader killed disbanded rather than destroyed etc etc.
Hi,

The deeper issue is, if the program "looses" unit kills through a bug (as opposed to a normal, but not apparently obvious, function of the game) can we trust the score that the program generates and that we is used to determine victory levels?
Not really AFAIK the game tracks units killed seperatly to the log of individual unit kills which it only uses for game purposes if its a campaign.
If you check & indeed find some destroyed units somehow keep the kills you can post the save if basic security along with a list of units you think are wrong & I will look at it.
As I said though would expect a dead unit to lose its kills though the game could still log the kills against it as it makes no diffrence as its dead. Crews may be handled difrently as they can split from the weapon/vehicle.
If you feel like getting a calulator out you could tot up the men on a side & remaining units at the end to see if number killed matches up.

The score is counted on the "killed" side and not on the "killer" side. If enemy units resurrected after the battle you would perhaps run into that problem, but not if the kill score disappears.

I agree that it is interesting to see how the units are doing, and I wish the kill score would keep track of number of men killed and the types of vehicles destroyed instead of just a generic kill symbol (much like CM)
