Can anyone advise me please?
With the up and coming new patch in the pipeline for JTCS, how will this affect current scenarios? Will old versions still be playable?
Will current user made designs need updating etc, ?
For example, I have designed a 200 turn scenario, with the help of another guy, and sixty turns in a bug has occurred re unloading of transport ships.
When the new patch arrives and, if certain problems have not been ironed out, will certain scenarios be a wase of time?
I also interpret, re the H2H section, many large scenarios will not be put through due to the amount of time required to test them. Have I understood that right? Playtesting mine with the other designer is taking about one turn per week. We would both hate to see that time wasted if the scenario was never to see the light of day?

Peter,

Actually I think you misunderstand what was stated concerning large scenarios in H2H.
H2H is there to develop scenarios that are "balanced" for PBEM.
Large scenarios are not recommended for the H2H system but, we will allow them as long as the designer and testers remain active with them. And, they do not remain for more than six months to a year.
Mostly it depends on how active the designers and testers are.

If it takes four years to complete a test that creates a single play on a large scenario I personally believe that it is beyond the scope and intent of H2H. :chin:
You can directly upload into the scenario dBASE. But, something taking up that amount of time in H2H is not going to happen.
As it is, much smaller scenarios are laying fallow because tests take a bit of time, or players and designers grow less active.

If your intent is to go through the H2H process you just may be wasting time? If your intent is to provide a large scenario for the club members to play, and you can upload it directly into the scenario dBASE, then it is not a waste of time at all? :smoke:

I wish you luck with it.
If you need help uploading it into the dBASE let me know. Sounds like you have a bit of time left on it? And, you may need those deep water/shallow water transports in a Matrix update?

cheers

That is all very well, HSL, but where does one put them? The CS Scenario section includes 5 sections for Matrix, including DG and DG Vietnam, plus a number of sections named for long forgotten Talonsoft update disks, the names of which are meaningless to all except the veterans. These are all caveated as not to be used for reporting. Unfortunately, the big cavet applying to the five Matrix sections is:
QUOTE
Please do NOT enter any scenarios under the Matrix Campaign series game listing.

All new Campaign Series Games' Scenarios should be entered under the 3 main listings of EF2, WF, or RS ONLY to prevent duplicates.

The Current Sub Categories of The Campaign Series games will be consolidated into 3 groups in the future.

Your patience and cooperation is appreciated.

That has been there for a long time. Not quite sure where the "Main listings" are. Must be my eyesight.

I for one have a number of historicals, Army down to Brigade size to go in the dB, and more to come, but nowhere to put them.
But that's fine, at least now I get to sign in twice.
BTW...haven't used the MB for a while. See I've been demoted. Guess I missed the Court-Martial.
Hi Rod,

Glad to see you found your way back to the forums. Big Grin

Follow the links:
-G-4|Supply
-Scenarios
-Add Scenario info to DB
-Select a Ladder (when you click CS a drop down menu appears)
--> *The Matrix Games Version of West Front
--> *The Matrix Games Version of Divided Ground
--> *The Matrix Games Version of East Front II
--> *The Matrix Games Version of Rising Sun
--> *D.G. Vietnam

I know the plan was to roll all the scenarios together into their individual fields.
All seem self explanatory except for "The Matrix Games Version of Divided Ground". Quite honestly I do not know if the webmasters added it in anticipation of a future release by Matrix. Maybe one of the webmasters or Senior Club Officers can let us know? :conf: I guess D.G Vietnam scenarios need to be uploaded there?
When you click a specific game you will be prompted for scenario specific information.

This has been explained elsewhere on the forums. I believe the Club received more than just a face lift. The leaders changed the rankings tables and removed the "overall ladder". I think, the new ranks are an effort to blend ladders and forum posts, etc. Many members have been reduced in rank. :eek1:

Maybe not a "Courts-Martial" as much as a reduction of force brings about the lesser rank? :chin:

I suspect it is a reflection of the current economic situation and quite possibly attributable to climate change.......and it is good to see Rod back again :-)

Thanks for the reply Ed ! We've worked out a 'work-around' with the transport ships for now. I think uplaoding scenarios to the database is the way I'll go but I won't do much more now until the new patch is out in case any work is out-fated by the patch.

Thank you. At the age of almost 68, I am very possibly the oldest active member, but I DO know how to do basic computer stuff.
But HSL, you have not really answered my question. THE WARNING IS STILL THERE. In bold, just like I wrote. Will I be placed in the naughty corner by the Obergruppenfuehrer if I do as you say?
And if the prohibition is no longer valid, as you clearly imply, why the f~^* is it still there? Surely tidying up the scenario section is more important than two sign ons.

I do agree with your interpretation of Matrix DG. And VMT the good wishes, von E.

 With all respect to your "advanced years", I think you will want to ask the person who consolidated the Scenarios in the dBASE and put in the warning. :chin:
Many scenarios have been uploaded since the effort was made and the warning put in place.
As far as I know no one has been shot for doing so. :conf:Whip

I hope that, as the site is updated, this will be addressed.

cheers

Thanks HSL....but I am a little concerned at your use of the phrase "as far as I know".
I no longer understand the Byzantine labyrinth of the Blitz hierarchy. However, I do consider the fact of my posting the question means it should be picked up by the responsible honcho, and answered. Seemed a reasonable question to me.

Truth there Rod.
I was looking for the "important thread" that Randy, RedDevil made as an announcement of the consolidation of the CS scenarios.
I was not part of that process. It's located here https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards...?tid=45729

I know that Randy is an assistant webmaster and did the work to make the CS scenarios blend into one area. He may be the one to contact concerning changing the "warning".

I know that I have also been as confused by the wording.
