I have a new computer, economy priced as befitting a pensioner, but a reputable make and more than ample for my simple needs. First order of business was to install JTCS plus 1.04. Fine.
I have just started playing the new Order out of Chaos, as the Axis Sovs (first turn) with Ivan the Big. Anyway, sent off my first turn, got his back, opened it up to play, (I always watch the replay)........and lo...... I have changed sides and become the Allied side US/Poles.!!!!!!??????
After considering some fine adjustment with a 12lb sledge I have, I thought I might try it in the old clunker. Moved it over with the free little memory thingy the vendor kindly gave* me, played it..fine. I got a replay of John's move which I moved back and sent off to him.
I thent ried a selection of PBEM game setups in WF, RS, EF, pulled the file out, put it back...same thing, so it ain't scenario specific. In all cases all rules except VV were on And yes, I passworded, and advanced the turn.

Any thoughts please, gents. BTW, my first impressions of the scen are very favourable.

* The young fella offered me that or a screen cleaning kit. I won't easily forget the look on his face when I refused the kit, advising him my cleaning routine was to turn the keyboard upside down andshake the crumbs out, and as for the screen...well I just spit on it and give it a rub with the hanky!!! [/b];)
Sheesh. If it were me I'd blame the install and try installing again. I thought first that maybe John had forgotten to put in a password, but if it worked on your old computer that can't be it. After you play a turn on the old computer and everything's good for both of you, does it still happen on the new computer or just the first turn?
Thank you. I don't have Ivan's next move yet. I will hold a reinstall until I get further advice...have also asked Matrix. I have seen side reversal before, but due to missing password I think
Not that anyone should come to me for computer advice, but ...
Could it be the file path related to the partition?
If the file works correctly on the old computer but not the new, it might be confused by the file path?

My computer illiterate 2 pennies.

cheers

If CS writes anything to the registry when the game is created then you will have lost that in the new computer, since of course the registry isn't copied over; thus the game doesn't know who is who in the zoo. SP just throws a bunch of security violations at you if this occurs.
