Okay guys,

I recently began playing this gent in a small scenario (he specifically requested this scenario and a certain side). We're a few turns in and he's not doing especially bad or especially good, but each turn has arrived with the "save counter" registering 5-7. I could understand this on a large scenario, but this is pretty dang small. If the next turn comes this way I'm going to ask him what's up, nicely of course. I was just wondering what you all think about situations like this.

Hi Larry,

I don't know if you can do a search for the thread about this a while back, but opinions are divided on this subject and the discussion did get rather heated. A lot of people thought that there were often valid reasons behind many saves due to time to play, children/pets interferring with keyboards and a myriad of other reasons - perfectly reasonable as all our lives and situations differ. Others, myself included, thought that if this happened on a regular basis then something more nefarious is probably likely. I think everybody has situations where now and again they would need to save a turn more often than usual, but when I play, I usually make sure I have enough time to actually play the whole turn through in one go... it doesn't always work out that way - but mostly it does. In my many years of gaming, I have rarely had to save more than twice (the limit reported) and then only on very large scenarios.

Since the matrix edition came out, I have only seen the "more than two saves" notice once, and I've played hundreds of turns against many different opponents.

I think it comes down to how you feel about it, you've been around the game a long time and you know the score.
Larry, I agree with Paul on this.
Ultimately it comes down to the player?
A simple question, "Why are you saving so many times?", often will clear up the matter and determine where you go in the future, with this player.

cheers

Hi Larry,
I believe that I've played this player a different scenario and he seemed to have pretty good turns all the times. I haven't played him since the new turn saver was attached. If you think its shady just offer a draw and move-on.

Chuck
Generally when I have to save a lot dure to power issues etc I will always explain why when sending the turn.
It's actually quite simple :-)

I did not even know there was a thing called a " save counter ". Where do you find it ?

Larry,

If there were not a lot of "miraculous" outcomes, all you have are suspicions, not very good evidence. I'd probably just finish out the game (sounds like a short one), post it, and politely refuse a rematch.

If things started getting miraculous, then you have some basis for confrontation.

Mike
Cam,

the save counter is reported to you after the replay of your opponent
(me) in the same dialog in which is stated which units undisrupt etc

i could set the save counter to 25 with my next turn as a demo if you like Big Grin

Well here is a new guys thoughts. A bit of background, just purchased game last weekend, had manual printed 2 days ago, playing a game with a good friend who is helping a lot.

I have a lot to learn so I am always refering to the manual. I will save as I look up a question I have. That might be one reason. I have played other opponets in a different game time period that has caused me to wonder though, it's those strange moves that just suddenly appear or one of my units that does something I don't remember doing. Best advice a fairly new guy can offer is, finish the game, ask yourself if you would play this person again and then do what you think is best. Remember that this is just a game that should be enjoyable and fun. If you have to wonder about your opponent and whether they are preforming majic, it takes the fun out of it.

Just my opinion.....
Thats a nice BIG target for Russian tank shells you have there !
