I need a technical assist...

One of my opponents sent me an unzipped turn, but when I DL from yahoo it goes from a BTE associated file to a txt associated file and the game doesn't recognize it. It keeps the .BTE, but it is associated with a txt file and CS doesn't seem to recognize it as a PBEM file.

Any suggestions?
Ask them to resend it zipped?

Nothing to get it unassociated with txt file? I'm playing, but so far no joy.
Luckily, his e-mail includes a second file... I can DL all and get a zip file... which keeps the file bte...

However, it seems once a file on its own is associated w/ txt I can't get it back to bte...

What do you open txt files with?

Maybe changing the opening program to WordPad or something might help?

Of course, you couldn't do a save as, you would just have to change the extention.

It reminds me of issues I had when I had AOL back in the day... it was still a .bte file, but it became associated with txt... which I could not seem to undo... it seem to be occurring in the yahoo download function...
I suspect the intermediary is modifying the file based on a default, or the Windows set up is doing that somehow. I used to have problems with unzipped files way back in the day too; I'm running Firefox/Thunderbird now and haven't ever had a problem (but then I do a lot of customization to the operating system too). Best of luck with it. Good to have you back on the board and in the CONUS man.

It happens to me when the file is not zipped..........having it zipped solves the problem
